Lafarge Republic orders cement grinding plant from Fives
20 November 2013Philippines: Lafarge Republic signed a contract with Fives FCB for a new cement grinding plant for the Teresa plant located in Rizal province. The proposed plant will add 850,000t/yr production capacity to the Teresa plant's capacity in 2015. No financial information for the contract has been released.
The contract includes raw material feeding, with clinker and pulverised coal fed through the existing circuit and other additives, such as a limestone, gypsum, fly ash, fed by truck dump. A cement grinding workshop will be fitted with one Horomill® 3800 and one TSV™ 4500 classifier, associated with a dryer-aerodecantor and a TGT™ filter (under Fives Solios licence). A Fives Pillard vertical hot gas generator (12 MW) for the pouzzolana (25% moisture) drying will also be fitted.
The plant's cement silo will have a capacity of 5000t. A new cement transport system will connect the new silo, the site's existing silos and the packing plant. The contract also includes the control and supervision system and an electrical sub-station for the new build.
Turkey: Engineering supplier Loesche has released information about a contract it signed in July 2013 to supply Göltas Cimento with a Type LM 56.3+3 vertical roller mill for cement grinding for its plant 130km north of Antalya. Loesche has previously supplied the company with vertical roller mills for cement raw material and coal grinding. The mill will produce at least three different types of cement, a standard OPC cement and various types of composite cements, at a production rate of up to 230t/hr.
Birla Corporation to set up new units in four states
06 November 2013India: Birla Corporation is planning invest around US$154m to set up new units in four states, according to local media. The company will set up three grinding cum blending units in Madhya Pradesh, one grinding unit in Bihar, one blending unit in Uttar Pradesh and another in Jharkhand, which will have a combined capacity of 4.5Mt/yr. Birla Corporation has eight manufacturing facilities located in Pune, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gurgoan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
OCL India to build 1.35Mt/yr grinding plant in Salboni
30 October 2013India: Konark Cement, a subsidiary of OCL India, is building a 1.35Mt/yr grinding plant at Salboni in West Bengal. The cement producer is also intending to use laminated polypropylene (LPP) bags at the unit to minimise wastage.
At present Konark Cement produces seven varieties of cement; OPC 53 grade, OPC 53-S grade, OPC 43 Grade, PSC, PPC (Flyash based), SRPC and masonry Cement, according to OCL India deputy executive director Indrajit Chatterji. OCL India has two cement plants at Kapilash and Rajgangpur in Orissa with a combined production capacity of 5.35Mt/yr.
Cimpor to increase cement production to 2.4Mt/yr in Mozambique
30 September 2013Portugal: Cimpor intends to increase its cement production capacity in Mozambique to 2.4Mt/yr after a new grinding unit is put on stream, the company has said in a statement.
The new unit at the plant in Dondo, in southern Mozambique, has a production capacity of 60t/hr. The unit will double the Dondo plant capacity and will add almost 0.5Mt/yr to Cimpor's overall cement output in the country. Tests at the new grinding unit began on 27 August 2013. Works for optimisation of the capacity and reduction of electricity consumption will be carried out in October 2013.
In July 2013 Cimpor signed a contract to rent a cement grinding plant close to its Matola cement plant.
Mangalam Cement starts trial run of new 1.25Mt/yr cement grinding plant
18 September 2013India: Mangalam Cement has started a trial run of a new 1.25Mt/yr grinding plant. In addition the Indian cement producer announced to the Bombay Stock Exchange that the kiln at its plant in Morak in Rajasthan had commenced operation after a break for renovation since May 2013. The cement plant's clinker production capacity has now risen to 2.21Mt/yr from 1.71Mt/yr.
ACC to set up 1.5Mt/yr grinding plant in Kharagpur
04 September 2013India: ACC will set up a 1.5Mt/yr cement grinding plant in Kharagpur in West Midnapore district, its Chief Executive (East) Vivek Chawla has announced. Building of the US$88.4m project is planned to start by January 2014.
"The company will invest US$88.4m for setting up the 1.5Mt/yr factory at Kharagpur," said Chawla.
Kesoram setting up new grinding plant
27 August 2013India: Kesoram Industries, a BK Birla Group company, has committed US$38.7m towards setting up a grinding unit at Sholapur, Maharashtra.
The first phase of the new 1.5Mt/yr grinding unit would be completed in the next 20 months, according to Kesoram's CEO Arvind Kumar Singh. When completed, the plant will be its first standalone grinding unit outside its main production bases in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Cimpor to increase grinding capacity in Mozambique
24 July 2013Mozambique: Portuguese cement producer Cimpor intends to increase its grinding capacity in Mozambique by 220,000t/yr. Cimpor's local subsidiary Cimentos Mozambique has signed an agreement to lease a grinding plant near to its Matola cement plant. The agreement will also allow Cimpor to increase its product range.
India: HeidelbergCement India will sell its 0.6Mt/yr cement grinding unit in Raigad, Maharashtra, to JSW Ispat Steel, part of the JSW Group.
"The disposal is in line with HeidelbergCement's philosophy of divesting less strategic assets with lower margins to focus on more strategic and key operations in central India where the company had recently expanded its cement capacity from 2Mt/yr to 5Mt/yr," said Ashish Guha, chief executive and managing director of HeidelbergCement India, in a statement.
The parties are negotiating and finalising the terms of the business transfer agreement, HeidelbergCement India said in a regulatory filing. The transaction will be finalised only after obtaining all relevant approvals, including that of shareholders.
