Russia: According to SKRIN Newswire, in the first five months of 2015, Eurocement's Pikalevskiy cement plant shipped 11,700t of bagged cement to its customers, which is 23% more than in the same period of 2014.
Cement production in Iran exceeds 15.8Mt
13 July 2015Iran: The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade has announced that in the first three months of 2015, cement production reached 15.8Mt and clinker output was 19.3Mt. In the same period, more than 12.7Mt of cement was distributed inside the country and 4.34Mt of cement was exported.
The Employers Guild Association for the cement industry said that, in the Iranian year 1393 (to 21 March 2015), cement and clinker exports exceeded 18.9Mt, up from 18.8Mt in 1392. Iran produced 66.4Mt of cement in the year and 70Mt of clinker.
Carthage Cement improves its position in the sector
13 July 2015Tunisia: According to African Manager, data published by the National Chamber of Cement Producers points to a year-on-year improvement in the position of Carthage Cement in the first four months of 2014.
Carthage Cement's domestic sales have increased by 44% to 349,823t in the first four months of 2015 compared to 242,0315t in 2014, despite the 6.69% decline of total cement sector sales. Carthage Cement's total sales in the first four months of 2015 rose by 36.6% to 420,923t compared to a cement sector decrease of 1.57%.
Semen Baturaja's cement sales up by 25%
07 July 2015Indonesia: According to Reuters, Indonesian state-owned cement producer PT Semen Baturaja Tbk has posted cement sales that exceed 600,000t so far in 2015, up by 25% from the same period of 2014. Several projects kicking off in South Sumatra contributed to the sales, which have reached only 38% of 2015's target of 1.75Mt.
Europe: Holcim's cement and clinker sales fell by 10.5% in Croatia and by 5.4% in Serbia in 2014. In Croatia, sales prices rose by 0.5%, while in Serbia, they rose by 0.3%. In contrast, Holcim's cement and clinker sales rose by 7.8% in Romania and by 2.4% in Bulgaria. In Romania domestic prices fell by 1.2%, while they rose by 1.1% in Bulgaria.
Polish cement production fell by 0.1% in January 2015
10 February 2015Poland: Cement production fell by 0.1% year-on-year to 520,900t in January 2015, while sales rose by 15.4% year-on-year to 638,500t, according to Poland's Cement Producer Association. In 2014, cement production increased by 6.8% year-on-year to 15.4Mt, with sales for the same period rising by 6.6% to 15.6Mt.
Saudi cement sales rose by 3% in 2014
06 February 2015Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia's cement sales rose by 3% year-on-year to 57.2Mt in 2014 from 55.3Mt in 2013, according to statistics published by the Argaam news website.
In the fourth quarter of 2014, Saudi Arabia's cement sales reached 14.6Mt, compared to 12.7Mt in the same period of 2013 and 11.6Mt in the third quarter of 2014. In December 2014, cement sales rose by 17% year-on-year to 5.59Mt from 4.79Mt in December 2013. In December 2014, Saudi Cement Company sold 785,000t, followed by Southern Province Cement with 769,000t and Yanbu Cement with 623,000t.
Building material production increases by 22% in Azerbaijan
20 January 2015Azerbaijan: Construction materials producers manufactured goods worth US$585m in 2014, some 22.2% more than in the same period of 2013, according to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report. During the period, Azerbaijan produced 2.98Mt of cement, a 40.5% increase compared to the same period of 2013 and 192,800t of gypsum, 23.3% more than in 2013.
Cement dispatches increase by 6% in six months
20 January 2015Pakistan: Cement dispatches during the six months that ended on 31 December 2014 increased by 6% to 17.1Mt, compared with dispatches of 16.1Mt during the corresponding period of 2013, according to the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA).
"The most pleasant aspect of this growth is that it is led by domestic consumption, which increased by 9.10% during July - December 2014," said the APCMA.
Analysis of the dispatches revealed that the plants located in north of the country showed robust growth in domestic consumption, selling 10.9Mt in the domestic markets from July - December 2014 against 9.9Mt during same period of 2013, a 10.5% increase. The southern plants witnessed 2.4% growth in domestic dispatches, supplying 2.10Mt of cement to local markets from July - December 2014, compared to 2.05Mt during the same period of 2013.
Semen Indonesia sales rise by 3% in 2014
15 January 2015Indonesia: PT Semen Indonesia Tbk has reported that cement sales grew by 3% to 26.4Mt in 2014. Domestic sales contributed 13.9Mt of the total sales, up by 7% from 2013.
