Roland van Wijnen appointed as chief executive officer of PPC

South Africa: PPC has appointed Roland van Wijnen as its chief executive officer (CEO). He succeeds Johan Claassen, who announced his retirement in November 2018. Van Wijnen has signed a four-year contract and is expected to take up the position as soon as he secures a work permit.
Van Wijnen has worked for Holcim and LafargeHolcim for 17 years in various leadership positions across the group including the CEO of Holcim Philippines. He also worked in South Africa for the business before it left the territory. He is an Industrial Engineering graduate from the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
Trinidad Cement makes changes to executive management

Barbados/Jamaica: Trinidad Cement has made changes to its executive management at its subsidiaries in Barbados and Jamaica. It has appointed Carlos Roberto Cordero Castro as the General Manager of Arawak Cement in Barbados. He succeeds Yago Castro Izaguirre in the role from 1 August 2019. It has appointed Castro Izaguirre as the General Manager of Caribbean Cement. He succeeds Peter Donkersloot Ponce from 1 August 2019.
Pedro Carranza appointed president of FLACEMA

Spain: Pedro Carranza, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Grupo Cementos Portland Valderrivas, has been named as the president of Fundación Laboral Andaluza del Cemento y el Medio Ambiente (FLACEMA). He succeeds Francisco Zunzunegui, who has held the post since late 2017. FLACEMA promotes the co-procesing of waste by the Andalusian cement industry. It was set up in 2003 by the Association of Manufacturers of Cement of Andalusia (AFCA) and a group of major unions.
Raoul de Parisot appointed as new president of Cembureau

Belgium: Cembureau, the European cement association, has appointed Raoul de Parisot, advisor to the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Vicat, as its new president. He will succeed Gonçalo Salazar Leite, the Vice-Chairman of SECIL. Isidoro Miranda Fernandez, CEO of LafargeHolcim Spain, will assume the position of Vice President.
George Savva appointed general manager of Vassiliko Cement

Cyprus: Vassiliko Cement has appointed George Savva as its general manager with effect from 1 August 2019. In addition, Antonios Antoniou, the executive chairman of the company, will retain his position as chief executive officer (CEO) for a transitional period of five months until 31 December 2019. After the end of the transition period, he will retain the position of the executive chairman.
Savva, aged 48 years, is a Cypriot national. He holds a bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance from London South Bank University in the UK and later became a Chartered Certified Accountant with membership of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC). He has also attended the LEAP Executive Programme of INSEAD Business School.
He worked for Deloitte in auditing and business advisory for four years before working as an internal auditor for two years. He became the chief financial officer (CFO) for Vassiliko Cement in 2001 and became the deputy general manger in 2017.
