Volvo named supplier of the year by Cemex
31 May 2018Mexico: Cemex has named Volvo & SDLG as its first global supplier of the year. It has also announced the winners of its third Integrate Innovation Program. Volvo also picked up first place in the Integrate program.
The initiative included 11 global suppliers of various categories and services - including mobile equipment, paper and sacks, lubricants, additives, and refractory material - who proposed 15 creative ideas to generate more efficient processes, products, and services. To evaluate and qualify the ideas received, 70 people from different areas of Cemex and different regions of the world participated in the selection of the three winning ideas.
Sweden's Volvo won first place in the Integrate program for its competence development of machine operators with simulators. Germany's Klüber Lubrication came second with its first hydro lubricant for gears. Germany's Refratechnik followed with its idea to counteract knowledge loss and special training on site. Volvo was also recognised for health & safety, Kao Chemicals for sustainability, BillerudKorsnäs for applied innovation and RHI Magnesita for customer focus.
Saudi contract for Loesche
12 June 2013Saudi Arabia: China's Sinoma, which is building a cement plant in Tahamah, Saudi Arabia, has ordered a LM 56.4 raw mill from Germany's Loesche GmbH. The vertical roller mill will have a production rate of 400t/hr and a mill motor with a capacity of 4000kW. In addition to the mill, Loesche will also deliver a metal detector, magnetic separator, slide gates and rotary valves.
The delivery of the hardware is planned for October and December 2013.
Siemens to supply turbine to Nesher Cement
12 June 2013Israel: Siemens Turbine will supply a combined cycle steam turbine to Nesher Cement's Ramla Plant in Israel. The company will supply an SST-300 industrial turbine with the output of 23.75MW to the plant, which is located between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The turbine has been completed recently and is ready for transport from Brno, Czech Republic to Israel.
Timken supplies bearings for CITIC mill
30 May 2012China: Timken Company has supplied bearings for one of China's largest vertical slag mills, featuring a 5.7m grinding table. The mill, one of several now utilising Timken bearings, was developed by CITIC Heavy Industries Co Ltd, one of China's top manufacturers of cement-producing equipment. According to CITIC, the new vertical slag mill produced by CITIC is expected to produce up to 1.2Mt/yr of ground slag for inclusion in cement and concrete products.
"Many sizable construction projects underway across China require large amounts of quality concrete," said Leong Fang, president of Timken China. "We work closely with CITIC and other customers in this important industry to make sure they can meet the growing demands of their customers for concrete and other construction materials. Our recent success is a testimony to teamwork and innovation for the two companies."
