Two DG Khan Cement employees killed in gun attack
10 December 2018Pakistan: Two employees of DG Khan Cement have been killed in a gun attack. A third worker was seriously injured in the incident, according to the Dawn newspaper. Police report that unidentified motorcyclists in Dera Ghazi Khan opened fire on a company security van whilst it was transporting workers to a nearby plant. The victims died at the DG Khan Medical College.
Yemen: According to local media, five alleged Saudi-led airstrikes attacked Amran Cement plant on 12 July 2015, leaving three workers dead and 10 others injured. The cement plant was almost entirely destroyed. Yahia Abu Hulaiqa, the director of Amran Cement plant, said that the losses are estimated at US$100m.
India: According to the Press Trust of India, at least five suspected A'chik Matgrik Elite Force (AMEF) terrorists attacked the Virgo cement plant in Damas, North Garo Hills, Meghalaya in the early morning on 18 June 2015. Two crude bombs were hurled in the incident, causing partial damage to a building. No casualties have been reported.
The men entered the plant through the second gate and asked the security personnel in the sentry post to open the main gate door. After they exploded one crude bomb inside the sentry post, causing partial damage, another crude bomb was thrown before escaping.
Ashaka Cement plant attacked again
05 December 2014Nigeria: Nigerian police officers and soldiers repelled an attack on 4 December 2014 by gunmen on Lafarge's Ashaka Cement plant in northeast Nigeria, where security forces are battling an Islamic uprising, according to a police official.
The gunmen tried to shoot their way into the Ashaka Cement compound. The same plant in Gombe State was attacked in November 2014 by gunmen suspected of being Boko Haram extremists. A Lafarge spokeswoman in Paris said that no one was wounded in the latest attack. Boko Haram has been blamed for numerous deadly bombings and has taken control of around 25 towns and villages along the northeast border with Cameroon in recent months.
