Senegal: Aumund Group says that it is supplying conveying equipment to a new production line that will be built at Ciments du Sahel’s Kirene plant. The order package includes 23 bucket elevators, seven pan conveyors, eleven drag chain conveyors, two Samson material feeders, four Centrex silo discharge machines and 19 silo discharge gates. The machines will operate in all stages of the production process, from raw materials discharge to conveying between the clinker silo and the cement mill, and in the packing plant. Supply will be made in several tranches between March and June 2021. Commissioning is planned for the first quarter of 2022.

China-based Sinoma International Engineering and its subsidiary CBMI Construction are the main contractors for the project. Aumund France and Aumund China, with support from Aumund Foerdertechnik, are the main divisions of Aumund working on the upgrade.

Ivory Coast: LafargeHolcim Côte d'Ivoire commissioned a new clinker discharge equipment at its Abidjan cement plant in June 2020. Aumund France supplied the equipment. It consists of a 75,000t-capacity silo, two Aumund KZB pan conveyors with ten gravity discharge gates, four Aumund GF belt conveyors and a dedusting system comprising five filters, as well as the complete electrics and automation package for the new discharge system. The supplier says that it also supervised installation and commissioning of the equipment.

Poland: Cementownia Warta has ordered a BPB-SF heavy-duty arched plate conveyor for the new limestone crushing facility at its Warta integrated cement plant from Germany-based Aumund. The supplier says that it will deliver the equipment before the end of 2020.

Aumund said that it has delivered “more than 20 machines” to the Warta plant since the producer placed its first order with the company in 1998. In 2020 it delivered five KZB pan conveyors of a total capacity of 2300t/hr as part of a project to construct a 120,000t steel-roofed concrete silo at the plant.

Brazil: Aumund Brazil will supply a type BZB bucket apron conveyor to Votorantim’s Xambioá integrated cement plant in Tocatins. It will replace a pan conveyor being used to transport clinker from the cooler to the silo. The new conveyor will have a centre distance of 92m and a conveying capacity of up to 170t/hr. The upgrade is expected to reduce dust levels at the site. Supply and commissioning of the new bucket apron conveyor in Xambioá is due to take place in October 2020. The order follows a previous order to Aumund for a similar project at Votorantim’s at Vidal Ramos plant in Santa Catarina.

Japan: Taiheiyo Cement has installed three BWZ bucket elevators and a Louise TKF drag chain conveyor supplied by the Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Aumund at its new power plant at Ofunato. The cement producer uses both biomass and coal at the plant.

Two elevators and the drag chain conveyor are used to transport palm kernel shells (PKS) and palm empty fruit bunches (EFB), which are used as alternative fuels in the power plant. Each has a capacity of up to 150t/hr. The conveying concept is designed so that the different materials are kept apart and enter the silo buffer tanks separately. The third bucket elevator is used for coal handling. It is a gravity discharge type BWZ-S elevator with a capacity of up to 35t/hr.

Brazil: Germany-based Aumund subsidiary Aumund Brazil has appointed Paulo Lima its chief executive officer (CEO). Lima brings many years’ mechanical engineering experience, specialising in conveying technology in cement and other industries. He previously worked for Aumund Brazil in leading sales positions between 1996 and 2000 and from 2004 to 2008.

Russia: ASK Cement is set to begin development of a new integrated cement plant on a greenfield site near Yekaterinburg in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Germany-based Aumund has announced that it will supply KZB and KZB-Q pan conveyors, BZB bucket apron conveyors, SDG clinker silo discharge gates, BWZ chain bucket elevators and BWG-L belt bucker elevators to the project in early 2020. Aumund designed the line in collaboration with ASK Cement and its engineering partner Sibniiproject Cement Design Institute.

Germany/UK: Pietro de Michieli, the managing director at Aumund Fördertechnik, has taken over the chair for Equipment Design and Infrastructure at the Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA) in the UK. In February 2019 he became the Vice Chairman of the Safety and Environment Committee at PEMA.

“I’m delighted to chair PEMA’s Equipment Design and Infrastructure Committee. I have an excellent contact network of people across a number of segments, so I offer an open window to different sectors. I have most experience in bulk handling – one of the sectors where PEMA is now attracting members. This is vital if we are to advance PEMA’s work on building the mutual exchange of information and learning best practice from across different sectors,” said de Michieli.

Turkey: Aslan Cement, part of Oyak Cement Group, has placed an order with Germany’s Aumund Fördertechnik for its Darıca plant in Kocaeli Province. The order is part of a project to increase the plant’s clinker production capacity to 6600t/day. The machines are due to be dispatched in September 2019 and commissioning is planned for the beginning of 2020. No value for the order has been disclosed.

The order includes a 225t/hr bucket elevator with a BWZ-L (low capacity) central chain type and a centre distance of 27m to feed the raw meal mill as well as three different models of BWG belt bucket elevators with capacities up to 500t/hr and centre distances up to 132m. The belt bucket elevators will also be used for raw meal silo feed as well as to transport raw meal to the dosing hopper and the heat exchanger. The order also includes three KZB type pan conveyors, each with capacities of 350t/hr and centre distances of up to 77.2m to convey clinker from the cooler to the silo, as well as two LOUISE BEW type rotary discharge machines, each with a diameter of 3m and a capacity of 400 t/hr.

Russia: Eurocement is close to completing a Euro2.5m upgrade to a cement grinding mill at its Katavsky cement plant. The project was intended to improve the quality of its cement products and to replace the mill’s filter sleeves. The unit uses which Christian Pfeiffer separators, Aumund elevators, Siemens automation systems and mill grinders and Vega grinding media. Pre-commissioning is currently being completed and cement from the mill is being tested at a laboratory.

The cement producer’s Kavkaztsement plant is building a captive power plant scheduled for commissioning in August 2019. It has completed the construction of the building that will house the gas piston power station as well as other connecting structures. Employees from the plant are being trained by Wärtsilä in preparation for the start up. The project has an investment of around Euro15m.
