FCT Combustion delivers Turbu-Flex burner for HeidelbergCement’s Hanover cement plant
28 February 2022Germany: Australia-based FCT Combustion has successfully delivered a new Turbu-Flex burner to replace the existing burner at HeidelbergCement’s Hanover, Lower Saxony, cement plant. FCT Combustion will also supply burner accessories and add-ons, an igniter, a flame sensor, fans, blowers and spare parts. The project aims to improve combustion control and maximise alternative fuel (AF) use in the plant’s cement production.
China: Australia-based FCT Combustion has announced a formal alliance with air pollution control partner Enelco Environmental Technology (EET). Together the companies will target the Chinese cement, steel, glass and other markets. EET has become the exclusive China representative of FCT Combustion, with which it shares its capabilities and resources in the service of Chinese customers.
The two companies have set up a joint office in Nanjing, Jiangsu province. A workshop in Bengbu, Anhui province will support its work. FCT Combustion and EET also plan to launch local technical support, engineering and procurement teams for customers in China.
FCT Group chief executive officer Adriano Greco said “We have great respect for our growing customer base within China and believe that it is important to establish a locally based business unit so that we can deliver the best outcomes and customer experiences, providing customer service and engineering according to the local culture and language, as well as local procurement to offer the most cost-effective solution.”
FCT Combustion supplies Turbu-Flex burner to HeidelbergCement’s Burglengenfeld cement plant
10 August 2021Germany: Australia-based FCT Combustion has delivered a Turbu-Flex burner to HeidelbergCement’s Burglengenfeld, Bavaria, cement plant. The joint aims of the project are to improve combustion control and to increase the alternative fuel (AF) substitution rate in the plant’s kiln lines. The equipment is scheduled for commissioning in early 2022.
Australia: FCT Group has appointed Adriano Greco as its chief executive officer (CEO). He succeeds Constantine Manias in the role, who will retain the post of executive chairman.
Greco has served the company as American regional CEO since 2015 and implemented its Brazilian business. He brings over 20 years of pyro-processing experience from management roles in the Americas, China and Europe while working for Greco Combustion Systems and Gebr. Pfeiffer.
Australia: FCT Combustion has appointed Andy Bailes as its new chief executive officer for Asia-Pacific.
Bailes joins FCT after working for almost 30 years at Metso in Australia, having spent 10 years as General Manager – Engineered Product Services, where he was responsible for managing a large team covering proposals, sales, technical, commercial and contractual obligation of the EP Products (Grinding, Pyro, Process & BMH) Group within the Australia and New Zealand region. He is a previous winner of the NEI International Combustion Scholarship for Chemical Engineering and holds additional qualifications in Business Administration and Management.
Turkey: HeidelbergCement and Sabancı Holding subsidiary Akçansa has used the coronavirus lockdown period to install a new burner at its Büyükçekmece cement plant in Istanbul, where production has been suspended due to the outbreak. FCT Combustion supplied the burner, which it said will improve ‘combustion, emissions control and clinker quality.’
Akçansa will undertake a burner upgrade on its second kiln during a scheduled stoppage in mid-2020.
Vietnam: Lam Tach Cement has upgraded Kiln 1 of its integrated cement plant with a new Turbu-Flex burner supplied by FCT Combustion. The upgrade follows the successful installation of an FCT Combustion Turbu-Flex burner in Kiln 2 of the plant in late 2019.
Vietnamese contract for FCT
24 April 2020Vietnam: US-based FCT Combustion has published details of a new contract with Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industry Holding Group (Vinacomin) for the supply of an FCT Turbo-Jet burner to Vinacomin’s 0.6Mt/yr La Hiên plant in Thái Nguyên province. The upgrade aims to enable the use of lower calorific coal while maintaining clinker strength and specific fuel consumption, in order to reduce fuel costs.
FCT Combustion previously provided burners at Vinacomin’s 0.8Mt/yr Quan Trieu cement plant in 2019 and 1.5Mt/yr Quang Son cement plant in 2020, both in Thái Nguyên province.
Titan Cement to upgrade Pennsuco kiln line
13 March 2020US: FCT combustion has announced that it has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Titan Cement for the upgrade of its 5000t/d kiln line to 100% natural gas firing. The upgrade consists of the installation of two new burners: a dual-fuel capability Gyro-Therm Mk3 and a back-up natural gas-firing Gyro-Therm Mk3. The company has said that it will also supply accessories, field instruments, burner management system (BMS) and valve train.
FCT updates on burner projects in US and beyond
20 March 2019World: FCT Combustion has released details on new burner projects it is involved with. Selected projects include a new contract in the US to convert both kilns to natural gas firing at Ash Grove Cement’s Louisville plant in Nebraska. The order includes Gyro-Therm MKII Burners, Natural Valve Trains and NFPA 86 BMS for both kilns.
Nova Cimangola in Angola has contracted FCT to convert its 5000t/day kiln to fuel oil firing. The order includes a multi fuel main burner, calciner burners, oil heating units, oil pumping and filtering units and control panels.
FCT also provided details about a low NOx kiln conversion for an undisclosed client. Other selected cement sector projects include the commissioning of Turbu-Flex burner systems for clinker kilns at Finnsementti’s Parainen and Lappeenranta plants in Finland. These are scheduled for commissioning in March 2019 and April 2019 respectively. Baumit’s Wopfing plant in Austria is due for a natural has lance for kiln preheating to be delivered later in March 2019.
It also plans to deliver a Turbu-Flex burner system for a clinker kiln to an undisclosed client in China later in March 2019. It is based on a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study undertaken by FCT is to allow for the firing of natural gas and to modernise the plant. Commissioning is scheduled for March 2019.
