Flexicon expands production facilities at headquarters
03 August 2021US: Flexicon has expanded the production facilities at its headquarters at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The increased 4645m2 space at the site will be used to store sub-assemblies, crating and the staging of assembled equipment. This will allow the main plant to increase its production capacity for fabrication and assembly.
Flexicon specialises in bulk handling equipment. It owns and operates manufacturing facilities in Brisbane, Australia and Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and maintains factory-direct sales offices in Barcelona in Spain, Santiago in Chile and Singapore.
UK: Flexicon has launched its Bulk-Out bulk bag discharging system for use in explosive environments. The model features a pneumatically-powered hoist and trolley to raise and position the bag inside the discharger frame, reducing the risk of potential sparks from electrical equipment or fork trucks that might be otherwise used for this function.
A Spout-Lock clamp ring forms a dust seal between the clean side of the bag spout and the clean side of the equipment, while a Tele-Tube telescoping tube maintains downward tension on the bag as it empties and elongates, promoting complete discharge of free- and non-free-flowing material from the bag. The all-stainless-steel construction is designed to withstand corrosive environments and allows rapid, thorough wash down with caustic cleaning solutions. The unit is available with a hopper and pneumatically-driven flexible screw conveyor, a tubular cable conveyor or a rotary airlock valve to feed material into a pneumatic conveyor line.
Flexicon launches weigh hopper with fill-pass valve
20 January 2017UK: Flexicon has launched a weigh hopper with a ‘Fill/Pass’ valve for dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems. The ‘Fill/Pass’ valve allows material to pass through the valve or to fill a hopper based on weight gain signals transmitted from load cells to the system's controller.
Suspended from three small-scale load cells, the bulk handling company says that the gain-in-weight hopper delivers higher accuracy than loss-of-weight systems requiring higher-capacity load cells. Single or multiple hoppers can be positioned along a common vacuum or positive pressure pneumatic conveying line for the discharging of dry bulk solids into single or multiple process equipment, storage vessels or downstream use points by weight. Downstream of the last ‘Fill/Pass’ valve, the conveying line can be routed to the original material source point or into a dust collection device.
Flexicon opens new office in Germany
03 October 2016Germany: Flexicon (Europe) has opened a new office to provide factory-direct engineering services and technical sales support to customers throughout Germany.
“The Aschaffenburg location will fuel Flexicon's rapid growth in the region by providing a dedicated German-language staff with full access to corporate resources," said Keith Bourton, Managing Director.
The Aschaffenburg office is headed by Christian Löchler, Regional Sales Manager. He holds an Engineering degree in Plastic Processing Technology from Fachhochschule Darmstadt (University of Applied Sciences), and possesses 20 years of experience in plastics processing, compounding and recycling, most recently as a Sales/Project Engineer for a consultancy specialising in gravimetric and volumetric dosing for granulates, powders and liquids. At Flexicon he will be responsible for building relationships with plant engineers, managers and other equipment specifiers in facilities that handle bulk solid materials across the mineral, food, pharmaceutical, plastics and general chemical industries.
Flexicon specialises in bulk handling equipment. Flexicon (Europe) is located in Whitstable, UK and is a fully owned subsidiary of Flexicon Corporation of Bethlehem, US. In addition to the Kent manufacturing location, Flexicon Corporation owns and operates manufacturing facilities in Brisbane, Australia and Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and maintains factory-direct sales offices in Barcelona in Spain, Santiago in Chile; and Singapore.
UK: Flexicon has launched a new bulk bag-lifting frame with telescoping arms that accommodates bulk bags produced in a range of sizes. The lifting frame can be added to all BFC models of Flexicon's Bulk-Out discharger line or it can be used for up to 2t capacities to replace discharger lifting frames that use a hoist to position and suspend bulk bags.
The telescoping arms can be adjusted using clevis pins and safety clips to a range of settings to accommodate bulk bags from 81 - 119cm square at the upper sew seam. This adjustability also allows the lifting frame to work with rectangular bags. The frame is available in carbon steel with industrial coatings or stainless steel to industrial or sanitary standards.
UK: The bulk handling company Flexicon has announced a new Ultra-Heavy-Duty Bulk Bag Filling System, which palletises and fills bulk bags with filter cake, aggregates, metal powders, abrasive minerals, dry chemical additives and other difficult-to-handle bulk materials like cement and gypsum.
The system integrates a Swing-Down® Bulk Bag Filler with a Flexicon Pallet Dispenser and Powered Chain Conveyor, allowing safe, high-capacity filling of bulk bags of all popular sizes, including bags with wide-diameter spouts for the passage of irregular materials. The system is offered with Flexicon's steel-tube flexible screw conveyor integrated with the user's upstream process equipment or other material source.
