Siam Cement sales grow by 15% to US$396m in Cambodia
08 February 2019Cambodia: Siam Cement Group’s (SCG) sales in Cambodia grew by 15% year-on-year to US$396m in 2018 due to higher sales of cement. The Thai company operates six subsidiaries in the country, including Kampot Cement, according to the Phnom Penh Post newspaper. Chiv Sivpheng, general manager of the Cambodia Constructors Association, said that demand for construction materials had been increasing annually as the population increases and urbanisation intensifies.
Cambodia cement plants produce 3.67Mt in first nine month of 2018
09 November 2018Cambodia: The four local cement plants produced 3.67Mt of cement in the first nine months of 2018. The Ministry of Industry and Handicraft said that two more plants will open by December 2018, according to the Phnom Penh Post newspaper. Kampot Cement produced 2.21Mt, Cambodia Cement Chakrey produced 1.22Mt, Chip Mong Insee Cement produced 0.12mt and Battambang Conch Cement produced 0.11Mt. The new plants to be opened are Southern Cement (Cambodia) and Thai Boon Rong (Cement).
Siam Cement Group to build third cement plant in Cambodia
02 February 2017Cambodia: Thailand’s Siam Cement Group (SCG) is preparing to open its third cement plant in Battambang province in 2018. Chan Sophal, the governor of Battambang, said that SCG started building the plant in 2016 and has almost completed it, according to the Khmer Times newspaper. SCG is a majority shareholder in local producer Kampot Cement. Once operational the plant will have a production capacity of 1.8Mt/yr.
