Vietnam's nine-month cement and clinker exports decline

Vietnam: The Vietnam National Cement Association (VNCA) recorded combined national cement and clinker exports of 24.8Mt in the first nine months of 2022, down by 26% year-on-year from the same period in 2021. This corresponded to US$1.1bn in value, down by 14% year-on-year. Việt Nam News has reported that the VNCA expects to achieve total cement and clinker production of 107Mt, against a national capacity of 130Mt/yr. Domestic demand was 65Mt.

Earlier in 2022, Long Son Cement commissioned a new 2.5Mt/yr integrated cement plant, raising national overcapacity to 200% from 196%.

Long Son Cement plant to open new 2.5Mt/yr kiln line in December 2020

Vietnam: Long Son Cement says that it has nearly completed the installation of a new kiln line at its Long Son cement plant. When commissioned in December 2020, the latest expansion will increase the plant’s capacity by 2.5Mt/yr to 7.0Mt/yr. The Việt Nam News newspaper has reported the cost of the upgrade as US$172m.

The new line is Vietnam’s 86th and brings the country’s integrated capacity to 106Mt/yr, against a domestic demand of 70Mt/yr.

Long Son Cement launches cement carrier

Vietnam: Long Son Cement has launched the Vu Dinh 125, a 7000t cargo ship at the Hai Phong Pacific Shipyards. The vessel will be used to transport bulk cement to the central and southern domestic markets and for export to China, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines.

New production lines approved for Long Son cement plant

Vietnam: Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has approved an upgrade to the Long Son cement plant in Thanh Hoa province. The plant will have two new production lines with a total production capacity of 2.3Mt/yr, according to the Viet Nam News newspaper. The new lines will also include waste treatment systems. Line 3 is expected to begin operation in 2020 and line 4 in 2021. The Ministry of Construction has been assigned to work with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the provincial People’s Committee to supervise the project.

Long Son opens second production line at cement plant

Vietnam: Long Son has started operating its second production line at its Long Son cement plant in Thanh Hoa province. Following the upgrade the unit has increased its cement production capacity to 5Mt/yr from 2.5Mt/yr, according to the Viet Nam News newspaper. Following the opening of the new line the site has become one of the largest cement plants in the country.

Long Son to open second production line in August 2017

Vietnam: Long Son plans to open its second production line at its Long Son cement plant in Thanh Hoa in late August 2017. The new line will more than double the plant’s production capacity to 5Mt/yr, according to the Viet Nam News newspaper. The company has spent US$176m on the new line.

Long Son Company orders mill from Loesche

Vietnam: Long Son Company has ordered a cement grinding mill from Loesche for its Dong Son Bim Son cement plant. The order is part of a contract with Sinoma-NCDRI. The contract includes a type LM 56.4 Loesche mill with a performance of 520t/hour. It will grind cement to a fineness of 12% R DIN 0.09mm. The gearbox of this mill has a power output of 3600kW.
