Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company recorded a profit of US$19.3m in the first quarter of 2021. Reuters has reported that the figure represents a 29% year-on-year rise from US$14.9m from the same period in 2019. The cement producer reported a 6% year-on-year fall in revenue to US$182m and a 13% fall in net profit to US$40.8m in 2020.
Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company recorded a profit of US$27.5m in the first six months of 2020, down by 32% year-on-year from US$18.8m over the corresponding period of 2019. Sales were US$79.8m, down by 23% from US$104m. The company attributed the decrease to a decline in demand due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Qatar National Cement Company produces 2.2Mt and profit falls by 51% year-on-year in 2019
28 January 2020Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) has recorded a profit of US$47.3m in 2019 – down by 51% from US$95.5m in 2018. This was caused by a 17% year-on-year fall in earnings to US$193m from US$233m in 2018 due to a 24% fall in production year-on-year – from 2.9Mt to 2.2Mt – and increased costs from the completion of the fifth line at the company’s integrated plant, as well as the diversification of its products to include white as well as grey cement.
Qatar National Cement Company’s nine-month profit down by 41%
22 October 2019Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company recorded a net profit of US$35.5m in the nine months to 30 September 2019, down by 41% compared to US$60.1m in the corresponding period of 2018. The depleted profit was ostensibly due to the company increasing its expenditure in expanding its export base to Africa and India.
Qatar National Cement preparing to export up to 3Mt/yr
29 April 2019Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) is preparing to export up to 3Mt/yr of clinker to markets in Asia and Africa. QNCC chairman and managing director Salem Butti al Naimi said that the company was actively taking to Indian companies and that an agreement might be signed soon, according to the Qatar Tribune newspaper. He also mentioned potential targets in Iraq, Yemen and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.

QNCC preparing to export cement
12 February 2019Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company (QNCC) is preparing to export clinker, grey cement and white cement. Following the completion of its 5000t/day Plant 5, the company is considering targeting countries like Yemen and Iraq, according to the Qatar Tribune. The cement producer has a production capacity of 16,000t/day. In 2018 it produced 2.9Mt of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) and Sulphate Resistant Portland Cement (SRC). It also intends to add new cement products to its portfolio in 2019.
Qatar National Cement starts production of white cement
03 December 2018Qatar: Qatar National Cement Company has started producing white cement after it obtained the necessary licenses for the product. It will be sold in 50kg bags and in bulk.
Qatar: Qatar National Cement’s sales revenue dropped by 21.9% year-on-year to US$119m in first half of 2018 from US$153m in the same period in 2017. Its net profit rose slightly to US$46.2m, according to the Qatar Tribune newspaper.
Qatar: Qatar National Cement has signed a provisional acceptance certificate with France’s Fives for the construction of new production line at the Umm Bab plant. The new 5000t/day line is the fifth at the site. It covers the whole equipment from the raw material preparation to the cement dispatch. Previously Fives and Qatar National Cement collaborated on lines two, three and four at Umm Bab.
