Schaeffler and Vitesco Technologies Group to combine businesses
29 November 2023Germany: Schaeffler and Vitesco Technologies Group have agreed to combine their businesses through the merger of Vitesco Technologies Group into Schaeffler. Following the completion of the transaction before the end of 2024, the equipment suppliers will create a new motion technology company to continue to serve their customers across four divisions.
Schaeffler chief executive officer Klaus Rosenfeld said “At Schaeffler, we are fully convinced that both companies ideally complement each other and will thus be stronger together. We are pleased that, after intense and, in part, for both sides, challenging discussions, we came to a business combination agreement, which now lays the ground for a swift and effective integration.”
Canada/US: Schaeffler has launched Optime, a condition monitoring system, on the Canada and US markets. The supplier says that the system consists of wireless vibrator sensors, a cellular gateway and a dedicated data collection app. The captured information is then processed and analysed by Schaeffler’s proprietary software and models. This can then be used to improve cement producers’ awareness of possible damage to components such as fans, motors and pumps.
Americas regional manager for condition monitoring and Industry 4.0 service solutions Frank Mignano said “With Optime, comprehensive and automated condition monitoring is now a cost-effective proposition for reliability personnel and facility operators.”
Germany: Flender and Schaeffler have launched the Schaeffler Modular Adaptable Returnable Transport (SMART) Box, a packaging system for bearings. Flender says that the reusable box reduces waste by replacing disposable packaging.
Chief executive officer Andreas Evertz said, “Over the past few years, Flender has systematically minimised its own CO2 emissions and was able to reduce them by 83% between 2015 and 2020. We want to be completely CO2-neutral by 2030. In addition, close cooperation with customers and suppliers is another important step towards achieving complete climate neutrality. It is therefore important for us to also focus on potential savings in the supply chain. We are pleased to have a partner in Schaeffler who is also thinking in this direction. With the introduction of SMART Box for one type of gearbox, we are already reducing the use of wood as one-way packaging material by more than 100t/yr.”
