03 March 2025

Türkiye: Cimpor Global has launched an initiative in partnership with Fizix to enhance operational efficiency and reduce energy losses in cement plants. The system will use 10,500 sensors for global machine health monitoring, enabling early detection of potential failures before they occur.

Taiwan Cement Corporation launches Low Carbon Construction Pioneer Alliance

19 November 2024

Taiwan: Taiwan Cement Corporation (TCC) and 100 construction firms have together launched the Low Carbon Construction Pioneer Alliance. CNA News has reported that the founding members eliminated 146,000t of CO₂ emissions altogether through their use of reduced-CO2 building materials since November 2024. This includes despatches of 800,000m3 of Portland limestone cement (PLC) concrete by TCC, with 2.5Mm3 in cumulative orders to date. TCC first launched its PLC in October 2023, touting an emissions reduction of 15% compared to ordinary Portland cement (OPC). It since enlarged the net reduction to 24% through production modifications.

Taiwan Cement chair Zhang Anping said "TCC took the initiative to align with the Global Cement and Concrete Association and released the lowest-carbon PLC concrete in Taiwan. The CO2 reduction is far greater than the 53% as defined by the government.”

Taiwan Cement to invest US$900m in China by 2016

31 August 2012

Taiwan: Taiwan Cement Co (TCC) will invest US$300m annually in China over the next three years to achieve an annual production of 100Mt by 2016. Chairman Leslie Koo made the announcement, adding that TCC's investment in 2012 will focus on second-phase plant construction in Anshun, Guizhou Province in China. To maintain a regional lead in the market, TCC intends to steadily improve production capacity in China and strengthen market share through mergers and acquisitions.

In his announcement Koo pointed out that, due to the EU debt crisis and China's macroeconomic controls, the cement market sagged in the first five months of 2012. Due to the easing of the debt crisis since June 2012, faster approvals of infrastructural projects and restored high-speed railway construction in China, the cement industry will likely see operations rebound in the second half. In addition public construction projects in Taiwan are also pushing demand for cement.
