Vortex Global opens new office in Shanghai
03 August 2021China: Vortex Asia-Pacific has opened a new office in Shanghai. It is intended to serve the solids and bulk handling components company’s customers in China and a variety of other countries in Asia. The subsidiary of US-based Vortex Global was established in 2009.
“Vortex has been established in China for over a decade and is excited about our continued partnership with dry bulk processors across the country. It is also great to see our team transition back into a new office environment after a difficult year with the pandemic,” said Travis Young, the president and chief executive officer of parent company Vortex Global.
Kevin R Peterson to retire from Vortex Global
13 January 2021US: Kevin R Peterson is to retire from Vortex Global in late January 2021. During his 25 years with Vortex, he has held many key positions including Director of Marketing, Special Projects Director, Regional Sales Manager and Director of Business Development.
Peterson’s involvement in the dry bulk industry includes membership in the International Association of Operative Millers, International Milling Education Foundation, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, and the Industrial Minerals Association of North America. He was elected an Emeritus Member of the International Association of Operative Millers, was a past Advisory Board Member of the Powder & Bulk Solids Expo, and served on the board of directors of the Industrial Minerals Association of North America. Peterson received the Outstanding Service Award from Kansas State University’s Department of Grain Science and Industry. He was also a contributor to the Dust Control Handbook for Industrial Minerals Mining and Processing published by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
Mespo establishes Swedish office
16 July 2020Sweden: UK-based Vortex Global subsidiary Mespo has announced the establishment of a sales office in Sweden in order to “better serve the Nordic region.” While continuing to serve Danish customers from its Denmark branch, Mespo will use the new office to “create customer relationships, arrange site visits and follow up on customer enquiries” in Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
Vortex Global appoints Alpha Engenharia as Portuguese representative
22 September 2017Portugal: Vortex Global has appointed Alpha Engenharia as its representative agent in Portugal. A subsidiary of the company Ana Beco Malheiro, Alpha Engenharia began activities in 2015. It provides technical and commercial assistance across industries in regards to automation, instrumentation, valves and accessories.
Vortex Global appoints Pladot as Israeli sales agent
03 August 2017Israel: Vortex Global has appointed Pladot as its new sales agent in Israel. Pladot builds mechanical and hydraulic systems for a variety of industries including packaging, process plants, food and beverage producers and more.
Stephen Eastick re-joins Vortex Global
28 June 2017UK: Stephen Eastick has re-joined Vortex Global. In his new role he will be responsible for the oversight of sales and rep groups throughout Europe. Previously, Eastick was a member of the Vortex Global internal sales team from 2011 to 2015. In that time, he was tasked with managing Asian markets. Most recently, he was employed as an external salesperson for Eclipse Magnetics.
UK: Laurence Millington has been appointed the managing director of Vortex’s operations based from Darlington in the UK. He succeeds Travis Young, who managed the company’s international operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asian markets since 2008. Young will become the Executive Vice President of Marketing and Global Strategy at Vortex’s corporate headquarters in Kansas, US.
Millington has been employed with the company since 2009 and was promoted to the role of Sales Director, EMEA and Asia, in 2015. Young has been with the company since 2004. Founded in 1977, Vortex designs and manufactures valves and dustless loading equipment for handling dry bulk material in the mineral, chemical and food industries.
Jordan: Vortex Global, a US solids and bulk handling components company, has appointed Smart Systems for Factories Operation & Maintenance as its agent in Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Tunisia, Qatar and Yemen. Smart is a Middle Eastern supplier of dedusting systems, including industrial ventilations systems, shut off valves, loading spouts and filters.
"Smart has the ability to provide our customers in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with any type of equipment for mineral industries including the cement, potash and phosphate industries," said Laurence Millington, Vortex’s Director of International Business. "We are delighted to have Smart represent us now and going into the future.”
Smart Systems was established in 2007 as a specialised technical and turnkey solution provider for the cement and mineral industries. The Smart team consists of project managers, mining experts, operation managers and maintenance managers in mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, erection and utilities aspects.
Vortex appoints Brolton as agent in Australia
07 April 2016Australia: Vortex Global Limited, a European solids and bulk handling components company, has appointed Brolton Group as its exclusive agent in Australia. Brolton Group also serves as an agent to Coperion, Sturtevant and Whitwick.
"Brolton has extensive experience in the material handling and mineral processing industries," says Laurence Millington, Vortex Director of International Business. "Our slide gates and diverter valves are quite complementary to the other companies that Brolton represents.”
Brolton Group provides process automation and industrial engineering services, such as general, mechanical, civil and construction engineering, for heavy industry, fast-moving consumer goods and broader manufacturing. Brolton Group is also a systems integrators for brands such as Rockwell Automation, Pilz and Sick.
