Germany/Nigeria: Germany-based Kreisel is sending a RDG 2000 type self cleaning rotary valve for the eventual use by client at a cement plant in Nigeria. The product weighs nearly 25t and has material flow rates of up to 570t/hr. The supplier says it is one of the largest self-cleaning rotary valve products that it provides. Such products are used to discharge typically wet or sticky bulk materials with a constant volume flow rate.
PowTech trade fair reschedules to 27 – 29 September 2022
01 February 2022Germany: The PowTech powder and bulk solids processing and analytics trade fair in Nuremberg, Bavaria, will now take place on 27 – 29 September 2022, in conjunction with the FachPack packaging trade fair. The organiser decided to postpone the event once again due to continued pandemic-related disruption.
BMSD Chaux Algeria commissions lime plant
13 December 2021Algeria: BMSD Chaux Algeria has commissioned a 100,000t/yr lime plant. Italy-based QualiCal supplied the plant. It is powered by natural gas and relies on CogiTech bulkmaterial handling equipment, Mathios Refractories’ refractories, Laife steel structures and Sysware and Tecnoelettra automation systems.
Vortex Global opens new office in Shanghai
03 August 2021China: Vortex Asia-Pacific has opened a new office in Shanghai. It is intended to serve the solids and bulk handling components company’s customers in China and a variety of other countries in Asia. The subsidiary of US-based Vortex Global was established in 2009.
“Vortex has been established in China for over a decade and is excited about our continued partnership with dry bulk processors across the country. It is also great to see our team transition back into a new office environment after a difficult year with the pandemic,” said Travis Young, the president and chief executive officer of parent company Vortex Global.
Schenck Process to acquire SHAPE
02 August 2021Thailand: Germany-based Schenck Process Group has reached an agreement to acquire Solids Handling and Process Engineering (SHAPE), a supplier of powder handling and powder processing products based in Bangkok. The purchase is intended to strengthen Schenck Process Group’s presence in equipment and food processing markets in Asia Pacific.
Bruks Siwertell targets port-mobile unloader at the dry bulk market
12 November 2020US: Bruks Siwertell is targeting its port-mobile unloader at the cement, alumina, and soya meal sectors after initially launching it to serve grain handling. It says the product has shown numerous advantages for use in cement handling and due to its enclosed design the unloader offers “no spillage and close-to-zero dust emissions.” It is available in 400t/hr or 600t/hr models and comes with a +/-30° articulating conveyor arm.
Director of mobile unloaders Jörgen Ojeda said, “For operators looking for a port-based system retaining similar flexibility during operation, but needing to discharge much larger vessels at a higher capacity, then our new port-mobile unloaders are a fantastic, extremely cost-effective option.” He added that screw-conveyor unloaders have the benefit over pneumatic discharge systems that they produce no fines, thanks to their “steady conveying velocity, with no particle collisions or crushing forces.”
Halbach & Braun celebrates centenary
22 October 2020Germany: Mining equipment supplier Halbach & Braun has announced its 100th anniversary, and says that it has postponed an official ceremony for the event until after Covid-19 lockdown restrictions are over.
Sales and marketing director Uwe Hackenberger gave, “very special thanks to our partners, the Yangquan Coal Industry Group, whose support paved the way for us to enter a new home market. Together and strong enough for the future, we are now able to supply complete mining systems from one source.” He added, “We would also like to thank our employees, suppliers, banks and state and local politicians who have always supported us with all their strength and accompanied us on our journey through the century.”
Schenck Process signs supply contract with BFM Global
16 October 2020North America: Germany-based Schenck Process has awarded a contract for the supply of “fitting connectors, spigots and bulk bag loaders to one of its North American plants” to original equipment manufacturing (OEM) company BFM Global. It says it will integrate BFM Global products in pneumatic conveying, dust collection, weighing and feeding systems produced at the plant, all of which it sells to the cement industry.
Americas regional president Jay Brown said, “Entering this partnership with BFM Global aligns with our strategy of providing industry recognised parts and system components to our customer base. Working with a company that understands the challenges of bulk material handling strengthens our solutions capabilities. We look forward to what this partnership will bring to Schenck Process and the customers we serve.”
Germany: Beumer Group has developed a screw weigh feeder with automatic calibration. The company says it is especially well suited to exact and controlled feeding of inhomogeneous bulk materials of densities between 0.08t/m3 and 0.80t/m3 and extremely high moisture content such as alternative fuels. Its capacity is 30t/hr and its weighing tolerance is between 1% and 2%. It is completely covered to prevent dust and other environmental stresses.
Hosokawa Alpine AG acquires Solids Solutions Group
17 January 2020Germany: Mechanical process engineering company Hosokawa Alpine AG has assumed 100% ownership of Solids Solutions Group and all its operations across three locations in Germany and Spain, which will be reorganised under the brand ‘Hosokawa Solids Solutions.’ Solids Solutions Group employs 100 people and develops and implements bulk solids handling solutions for customers in various industries including cement. Solids Solutions Group founder and departing CEO Hermann Linder said, “I am pleased to be able to hand over the Solids Solutions Group to a strong company in the field of mechanical process engineering and to know that the employees and customers are in good hands.”
