Turkey: MEDCEM plans to expand its Silifke cement plant's clinker capacity by 90% to 6.5Mt/yr. Germany-based Aumund will supply the upgrade with 41 different machines. The package comprises six belt bucket elevators, two chain bucket elevators, four pan conveyors and 11 drag chain conveyors, with capacities up to 900t/hr. The order also includes 13 silo discharge gates for belt conveyors and five telescopic chutes for truck loading. The supplier will deliver the goods in October 2022, for scheduled commissioning in January 2023.
Ivory Coast: LafargeHolcim Côte d'Ivoire commissioned a new clinker discharge equipment at its Abidjan cement plant in June 2020. Aumund France supplied the equipment. It consists of a 75,000t-capacity silo, two Aumund KZB pan conveyors with ten gravity discharge gates, four Aumund GF belt conveyors and a dedusting system comprising five filters, as well as the complete electrics and automation package for the new discharge system. The supplier says that it also supervised installation and commissioning of the equipment.
UK: Flexicon has launched its Bulk-Out bulk bag discharging system for use in explosive environments. The model features a pneumatically-powered hoist and trolley to raise and position the bag inside the discharger frame, reducing the risk of potential sparks from electrical equipment or fork trucks that might be otherwise used for this function.
A Spout-Lock clamp ring forms a dust seal between the clean side of the bag spout and the clean side of the equipment, while a Tele-Tube telescoping tube maintains downward tension on the bag as it empties and elongates, promoting complete discharge of free- and non-free-flowing material from the bag. The all-stainless-steel construction is designed to withstand corrosive environments and allows rapid, thorough wash down with caustic cleaning solutions. The unit is available with a hopper and pneumatically-driven flexible screw conveyor, a tubular cable conveyor or a rotary airlock valve to feed material into a pneumatic conveyor line.
