India: The Industries Department of Himachal Pradesh is planning to re-advertise the tender for a white cement plant project at Sikridhar in the Chamba district. The state government received no bids for the project in the last round of bidding, according to the Tribune newspaper. Only ACC expressed any interest in the process by buying the big papers.
The local government wants the project to be awarded by May 2019 and it is expected to cost around US$138m. The project is a long running scheme that was first suggested in 2002.
Afghanistan: The Ministry of Mines & Petroleum plans to re-issue a tender for the Jabal Saraj cement plant. The winning company will have to invest US$170m into the project to build 1Mt/yr plant, according to Tolo News. Previously, a local company won the tendering process to renovate the unit but the High Economic Council has decided to find a company with more industry experience.
Bolivia: Fábrica Nacional de Cemento (Fancesa) is undergoing a tendering process to upgrade its packing unit at its cement plant in Cal Orcko. Haver & Boecker, FLSmidth Ventomatic, Claudius Peters and Beumer Latin America all submitted bids, according to the Correo del Sur newspaper. The project includes a new cement silo, new bagging machinery and a mechanised loading system.
Palestine: Sanad South Cement Grinding and Filling has started a pre-qualification tender process to find engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors to build a 1.3Mt/yr cement grinding plant in Bethlehem. The plant will use a vertical roller mill to grind clinker, gypsum, pozzolana, limestone and fly ash to produce three types of cement, according to Zawya. 30% of the cement will be sold in bags, while the remainder will be sold in bulk. Contractors have until mid-November 2016 to make their submission.
In October 2016 the Palestine Investment Fund announced that a new cement plant would be built for US$310m by 2018. Building a cement grinding plant is part of the process.
