WEG to supply transformers for St Marys Cement plant
16 July 2024Canada: WEG will supply the substation of Votorantim Cimentos North America’s St Marys Cement plant in Bowmanville, Ontario with its transformers. The order includes four transformers with capacities of 20MVA and 25MVA and voltage levels of 43.8/4.16kV. Sales and engineering teams from Brazil collaborated with VJ Pamensky Canada, the exclusive distributor of WEG in Canada, on the project.
Cimbenin removes polychlorinated biphenyl transformers
06 August 2018Benin: HeidelbergCement’s subsidiary Cimbenin has removed two polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) transformers from its grinding plant in Cotonou. The toxic components will be disposed of by a French company, according to the La Nation newspaper. The Société Nationale de Ciment (SONACI) installed the transformers in 1977. Subsequently Cimbenin bought the unit in 1991 and put the affected equipment into storage in 2012. The decision to remove the transformers was part of the company’s ISO 14001-2004 certification, which it obtained in 2012.
Intercem replaces transformer at Cimfaso Cement
17 March 2017Burkina Faso: Intercem has reported that it replaced the main transformer at the Cimfaso Cement plant in 10 days in February 2017 from the initial order to the resumption of production at the unit. Following a problem with the local power grid the transformer was damaged and production stopped. Intercem dismantled and flew the transformer from Germany to Burkina Faso and then supervised its reassembly, connection and commissioning including customs and visa clearance.
