Eurocement Ukraine reduces loss in 2017
27 March 2018Ukraine: Eurocement Ukraine has reduced its loss by 14% year-on-year to Euro4.47m in 2017. It nearly doubled its production to 1.12Mt of cement, according to Nezavisimy Stroitelny. Of this total 1.1Mt was shipped to consumers.
Counterfeit cement on the wane in Ukraine
08 February 2018Ukraine: The share of counterfeit products on the cement market in Ukraine dropped to 8.0% in 2017 from a staggering 21.5% in 2014, according to a press release from the Ukrcement association of cement producers, with reference to a study by GfK Ukraine. Ukrcement believes that change was prompted by the signing of a memorandum on the quality of cement between Ukrcement, the Union of Consumers and large distributors of construction materials in 2017.
Ukrainian cement production rises by 23% to 9.3Mt in 2017
25 January 2018Ukraine: Cement production rose by 2.3% year-on-year to 9.3Mt in 2017. In 2016 it rose by 7.1% to 9.1Mt, according to the Ukrainian News Agency. Despite the growth in 2017 production fell slightly in December 2017. 15 companies produce cement in the country with a total production capacity of 25Mt/yr.
Ukraine: The supervisory board of Podilsky Cement has appointed Leonard Barry as its supervisory board chairperson. Previously, he was the director of CRH in the country, according to the Ukrainian News Agency. Barry, aged 52 years, is an Irish national. He joined Irish Cement in 1989 as a process engineer before becoming its managing director in 2011. He trained as a chemical engineer at University College Dublin and holds an MBA from the University of Limerick.
Other personnel changes include the appointment of Declan Maguire, CRH’s chief operational director for Eastern Europe, as deputy supervisory board chairperson. Alan Connolly has also been appointed as secretary of the supervisory board.

Mykolaiv Cement appoints Andrii Zvyrynskyi as a board member
25 February 2015Ukraine: Mykolaiv Cement has appointed its commercial director Andrii Zvyrynskyi as a board member. He replaces Ruslan Koliada who occupied the post since September 2013 and has now been dismissed. Zvyrynskyi will hold the position until the recall of his candidacy by the supervisory board or a general stockholders' meeting. Previously he had been the commercial director of Mondy Packaging Behs Ukraine.
HeidelbergСement Ukraine appoints Kovaliova to board
03 December 2014Ukraine: HeidelbergCement Ukraine has appointed Olena Kovaliova as Deputy Chairperson of the Management Board to replace David Andreas Johannes von Lingen. The company's Supervisory Board decided to terminate von Lingen's authority on 25 November 2014 ahead of the original scheduled date of 31 December 2014, according to a company statement. Von Lingen had been in port for three and a half years. The Supervisory Board appointed Kovaliova as the Board Deputy Chairperson from 1 January 2015 for three years until 1 January 2018.
Yugtsement dismisses Commercial Director
05 February 2014Ukraine: Yugtsement company has dismissed its commercial director Tetiana Kazakevych. She was dismissed in compliance with the resignation statement that she submitted previously, according to the Ukranian News Agency. She had occupied the positions since 2001. The company is part of Dyckerhoff Ukraine, which runs three cement plants in the country.
Volyn Cement removes two supervisory board members
08 January 2014Ukraine: On 1 January 2014 Volyn Cement (part of Dyckerhoff Ukraine) relieved two members of the supervisory board, chairman of the supervisory board Otto Lose and supervisory board member Volker Sonnabend. The posts remain vacant.
Volyn Cement suffered a loss of Euro2.69m in 2012 according to the International Financial Reporting Standards. Its net revenues increased by 1.85% year-on-year to Euro59.2m in 2011.
Ukraine: The supervisory board of Eurocement Ukraine has relieved acting director-general Vitalii Horholiuk and appointed Oleg Lopatin director-general, according to a company statement. The decision to dismiss Horholiuk was due to Lopatin obtaining a work permit for Ukraine. Previously, Lopatin managed the Voronezh branch of Eurocement Group, based in Moscow, Russia.
