Hari Krishna Agarwal appointed as managing director of Grasim Industries

India: Grasim Industries has appointed Hari Krishna Agarwal as its managing director. He will take up the post for a period of two years from 1 December 2021. The appointment is subject to shareholder approval. It follows the early retirement of Dilip Gaur from the subsidiary of Aditya Birla Group.

Agarwal, aged 62 years, has worked for Aditya Birla Group for nearly 40 years. During this period, he has held different roles in cement, chemicals and pulp and fibre businesses before taking on his current role as Business Head for Pulp & Fibre. He is a chartered accountant and an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Sasin School of Management at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.

Paul Hogan to be appointed as head of Mississippi Lime in 2022

US: Mississippi Lime has appointed Paul Hogan as its president and chief executive officer (CEO). After a transition period he will take up the posts in early 2022 when the current holder, Bill Ayers, retires.

Hogan previously worked as the CEO of the Americas of Italmach Chemicals. In this position, he led their specialty chemical business in the Americas while also serving as the Global Vice President responsible for their oil and gas division. Previously, he held key positions of increasing responsibility with Solvay, Emerald Kalama Chemicals, Dupont Dow Elastomers, Elementis and Dynea. Hogan attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with Business Studies from the University of Abertay in Dundee, Scotland and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Durham Business School in England.

Oliver Schopp appointed as Beumer Group’s Director Sales Logistic Systems

Germany: Beumer Group says that Oliver Schopp has been its Director of Sales Logistic Systems since May 2021. He succeeded Thomas Wiesmann, who retired at the end of July 2021. Before joining the company Schopp held management positions at internal logistic automation companies Swisslog, SSI Schäfer and Interroll.

Caterina Costa de García appointed as chair of Holcim Ecuador

Ecuador: Holcim Ecuador has appointed Caterina Costa de García as the chair of its board of directors. She is the first woman in the post and succeeds Oscar OrrantiaVernaza, who has stepped down to become the country’s ambassador to France.

Costa de García has worked for plastics manufacturer Poligrup for over 25 years becoming executive president in late 2020. She has also held leading positions at a number of national business associations such as the Chamber of Industries of Guayaquil, the Ecuadorian Business Committee and the Ecuadorian and Latin American Plastics Associations. She took her first degree from the Catholic University of Santiago in Guayaquil, earned a master’s degree in comparative law from New York University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Federico Santa María Technical University.

Holcim Philippines makes sustainability-related appointments

Philippines: Holcim Philippines has appointed Zoe Sibala Senior Vice President of Sustainability and expanded the role of Richard Cruz, Vice President of Health, Safety and Security to include the environment portfolio.

Sibala was Vice President of Strategy from 2017. She held management roles in finance, strategy and business development in Lafarge Philippines’ aggregates unit, which was acquired by Holcim in 2015. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from De La Salle University and a degree in economics from the University of the Philippines.

Cruz was appointed Vice President for Health, Safety and Security in 2018. Prior to this, he held management roles in the department. He joined Holcim Philippines' waste management unit Geocycle as laboratory engineer in 2008 and helped it attain an Integrated Management System certification (Quality, H&S and Environment). A graduate of the Central Luzon State University, Cruz is a licensed chemist and a certified security professional. He holds certifications in health and safety from accrediting organisations such as the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health and the International Safety Rating System.
