Cementos Moctezuma completes second line at Apazapan plant
08 February 2017Mexico: Cementos Moctezuma has completed its second production line at its Apazapan plant near Veracruz. The unit now has a cement production capacity of 2.75Mt/yr following an investment of over US$150m. Miguel Ángel Yunes Linares, Constitutional Governor of Veracruz, Efraín González Flores, Municipal Constitutional President of the Municipality of Apazapan, Fabrizio Donegà, General Manager of Moctezuma Corporation and others attended a ceremony to mark the operational start-up of the new line in late January 2017. Following the expansion, the cement producer has a production capacity of 8Mt/yr in the country.
Mexico: Cementos Moctezuma, a joint venture company of Cementos Molins, Buzzi Unicem and Grupo Carso, has ordered a Loesche vertical roller mill LM 53.3+3 C for its cement plant in Apazapan, Veracruz. The mill will produce 205t/hr CPC 30 cement at 4000 Blaine or 195t/hr CPC 40 cement at 3700 Blaine.
The order also includes a LDC classifier (Loesche Dynamic Classifier), as well as the COPE gearbox, including gearbox drive motors, developed in cooperation with RENK AG. The COPE gearbox features a redundancy of eight motors. With all eight motors in operation, an output totaling 4.6MW is achieved. The customer advantage lies in the fact that the COPE gearbox can reach up to 100% of the mill capacity performance even with a reduced number of motors. The COPE gearbox has the same external dimensions as a conventional planetary gear system and thus requires no extensive enlargement of the mill foundations.
Mexico: Cementos Moctezuma has announced US$200m of investments to increase its cement production capacity by 1.3Mt/yr to 2.6Mt/yr at its plant in Apazapan, Veracruz. The company, which is owned by Buzzi Unicem, Cementos Molins and Carso, runs three plants in Mexico with a total production capacity of 6.4Mt/yr. Moctezuma's income grew by11% to US$164m in the January - March 2014 period.
