Fives wins dryer contract with Cementos del Norte
13 June 2017Honduras: France’s Fives has won a contract to supply a FCB Flash dryer for Cementos del Norte’s Bijao plant. The dryer will be installed on an existing ball mill that was supplied and installed by Fives FCB in 2001 for a production capacity of 90t/hr of pozzolanic cement. Since then the pozzolana content and moisture rate have increased. Once operational the grinding plant drying capacity will rise.
Honduras: Cementos Argos has inaugurated its 0.3Mt/yr cement grinding plant at San Lorenzo. It spent US$25m on the upgrade project and it has created 100 new direct and indirect jobs. The plant, formerly known as Cesur Grinding Station, was purchased from Lafarge in 2013. The refurbished plant will add to the cement producer’s assets in the country including an integrated cement plant in Comayagua and a terminal in San Pedro Sula.
Cementos Argos to upgrade San Lorenzo grinding plant
21 October 2016Honduras: Argos Honduras plans to spend US$25m towards upgrading its San Lorenzo grinding plant. The site has a production capacity of 300,000t/yr and it will develop its range of Ordinary Portland Cement products, said Argos Honduras director Harry Abuchaibe to La Prenza newspaper. The plant, formerly known as Cesur Grinding Station, was purchased from Lafarge in 2013 as part of a package of assets acquired at that time. Argos Honduras also operates a 1Mt/yr integrated cement plant in the country at Comayagua.
Cement plant announced in Honduras
17 June 2015Honduras: According to Central America Data, the Honduran government has signed an agreement with the Italian Goldlake Group to build a cement plant with an estimated value of US$200m. The agreement comes within the framework of the VII Italian-American Latin America and the Caribbean Conference with president Juan Orlando Hernandez as a witness of honour. Economic development minister Alden Rivera announced that construction of the cement plant would start in July 2015 in the Valley of Agalteca.
Lafarge sells Honduras cement plant to Cementos Argos
03 September 2013Honduras: Lafarge has sold its cement operations in Honduras to Cementos Argos for Euro232m. Sold assets include a 1Mt/yr cement plant and a 0.3Mt/yr grinding plant. The sale is subject to regulatory approval.
The transaction had a total enterprise value of Euro435m based on a 2012 earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) multiple of 8.6. Lafarge owns 53.3% of its Honduran subsidiary, Lafarge Cementos SA de CV.
