Ramco Cement inaugurates grinding plant in Odisha
14 October 2020India: Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister of Odisha, has attended the inauguration of Ramco Cement’s new cement grinding plant at Haridaspur. The unit had a cost of just under US$100m and has created 105 direct jobs. A LM 46.2+2 CS type vertical roller mill with a capacity of 3750kW has ordered from Germany-based Loesche in 2018 for the project. The cement producer says that the plant is designed to be ‘totally dust free,’ including bag filters designed to ensure emission levels below 30mg/m3.
Elementia inaugurates 0.25Mt/yr Progreso grinding plant in Yucatán
23 September 2020Mexico: Elementia has announced the commissioning of a new 0.25Mt/yr grinding plant in Progreso, Yucatán State. The group says that the plant cost US$25m. Chief executive officer (CEO) Jaime Rocha Font said “Through this project, Elementia aims to participate in the growth of the Yucatán Peninsula and Southern Mexico.”
Egyptian Cement to open new plant in Sohag in 2021
23 September 2020Egypt: Egyptian Cement Group’s chief executive officer (CEO) Ahmed Abou Hashima says that the company plans to inaugurate its new cement factory in 2021. The plant is located in Sohag and has a total investment cost of US$285m, according to the Hapi Journal. The 2Mt/yr project was originally scheduled to open in the first half of 2020 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
New ECEBOL cement plant at Caracollo inaugurated
05 August 2019Bolivia: Empresa Publica Productiva Cementos de Bolivia’s (ECEBOL) new integrated cement plant at Caracollo in Oruro has been inaugurated. President Evo Morales attended the event for the 1.3Mt/yr plant, according to the Correo del Sur newspaper. The project had an investment of US$306m and it was built by a consortium of Sacyr, Imasa and Polysius.
Burkina Faso: Harouna Kaboré, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Handicraft, has inaugurated a new mill at Cimburkina’s cement grinding plant at Kossodo in Ouagadougou. By installing the new mill the unit has doubled it production capacity to 2Mt/yr, according to the Sidwaya newspaper. The upgrade cost US$25m.
François Sangline, the director general of the subsidiary of Germany’s HeidelbergCement, said that the 2000t limestone silo feeds the production line consisting of two 150t/hr cement grinding mills. This is followed by a 120t/hr bagging unit. Sangline noted that the country’s cement consumption of 2.5Mt/yr is below the domestic cement production capacity of 6Mt/yr. Due to this he lobbied the government to protect local production against imports and fraud.
Cbb inaugurates cement grinding plant in Arica
05 April 2019Chile: Cbb, formerly known as Cementos Bío Bío, has inaugurated a new 0.2Mt/yr cement grinding plant at Arica. The unit had an investment of US$20m, according to the Diario Financiero newspaper. It is the company’s fifth plant in the country. As part of Cbb’s expansion strategy to target Peru, the new plant may double its production capacity in the future. The cement producer is also planning to build a US$20m plant at the Port of Matarani near Arequipa in Peru for a scheduled commission date in 2020.
Prestige Cement inaugurates grinding plant in Abidjan
29 March 2019Ivory Coast: Prestige Cement has inaugurated a 1.2Mt/yr plant at Abidjan. The Chinese-Ivorian joint venture had an investment of around US$35m, according to the Agence de Presse Africaine. The unit has two 0.6Mt/yr production lines using vertical roller mills. Souleymane Diarrassouba, Minister of Commerce, Industry and SME Promotion, attended the event on behalf of the government. Chinese ambassador Tang Weibin was also in attendence.
Nigerien president inaugurates Malbaza Cement plant
20 March 2019Niger: President Issoufou Mahamadou has inaugurated Malbaza Cement Company’s plant at Malbaza. The US$83m plant has a production capacity of 0.65Mt/yr, according to the Le Sahel newspaper. It produced its first cement in late December 2018. It has 347 employees.
President inaugurates Mond-Dashti Cement plant in Iran
19 March 2019Iran: President Hassan Rouhani has inaugurated the Mond-Dashti Cement plant. He made the inauguration remotely by video link, according to the Tehran Times newspaper. The unit had an investment of around US$90m and a cement production capacity of 1.2Mt/yr. It has created over 170 jobs.
France: Hoffmann Green Cement Technologies has inaugurated its pilot plant at Bournezeau, Vendée. The 50,000t/yr unit will manufacture cement products using metakaolin and blast-furnace slag, according to the L'Usine Nouvelle magazine. It says it will produce cement with reduced CO2 emissions up to 250kg/t using a flash-calcined process down from 900kg/t in the normal clinker production process. The project had investment of Euro10m.
