Saman Cement orders second Gebr. Pfeiffer mill for plant expansion
04 December 2025Iraq: Saman Cement has awarded a contract for the supply of a MVR 5000 R-4 vertical roller mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer for the second production line at its plant in Al Mothanna Province. The mill will grind 450t/hr of cement raw material, drying feed with 6.7% moisture to below 1%. It features a 4000kW drive and an SLS 4000 VR classifier. This follows nearly a decade of operation by a Gebr. Pfeiffer MPS 5000 B mill on the plant’s first line. Sinoma International Engineering is acting as general contractor. Commissioning is scheduled for the first half of 2027.
Lucky Cement to increase capacity in DRC through plant expansion
03 December 2025Democratic Republic of Congo: Lucky Cement will expand cement production in the country through its joint venture with the Rawji Group, Nyumba Ya Akiba (NYA). The company announced that NYA will increase its capacity from 1.31Mt/yr to 2.91Mt/yr by adding a fully integrated 1.6Mt/yr line.
Following the project, Lucky Cement’s total capacity will increase to 23.2Mt/yr, including 15.3Mt/yr from Pakistan, 1.74Mt/yr from Basra, Iraq, 3.20Mt/yr from Samawah, Iraq, and 2.91Mt/yr from the DRC.
Jidong Cement undertakes clinker capacity replacement
26 November 2025China: Inner Mongolia Jidong Cement will shut down one 4000t/day clinker line as part of a capacity replacement programme, with its quota redistributed across two other production lines. According to the company, another 4000t/day line belonging to the company will be replaced with 2200t/day of capacity, bringing the adjusted total to 6200t/day.
N+P Group confirms investment in alternative fuel pilot line
05 November 2025UK: N+P Group announced that investment has been approved for its new 5t/hr research and development pilot line at its Hartlepool site. The installation will separate biogenic fractions from hard-to-process waste, including municipal solid waste and material from materials recovery facilities and other processing sites. The output will be a cleaned, high-biogenic alternative fuel, with biogenic content expected to exceed 70%. N+P aims to deliver the first volumes from its facility in the first quarter of 2026.
Syria: The Ministry of Economy and Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Iraq’s Vertex Investment Group to rehabilitate and expand the Hama Cement plant. The agreement covers the rehabilitation and operation of the plant’s third line, increasing capacity from 3300t/day to 5000t/day of clinker within 13 months. It also includes the construction of a new 6000t/day line, which will raise the plant’s total production capacity to around 11,000t/day over the next five years. The MoU also provides for worker training, application of international quality standards, and compliance with environmental and occupational safety requirements.
Huaxin Cement ignites 2000t/day clinker line in Malawi
01 October 2025Malawi: Huaxin Cement successfully ignited its new 2000t/day clinker production line on 28 September 2025, marking the official start of trial production, according to a post on Linkedin by the producer. Once fully commissioned, the plant will add 0.8Mt/yr to the company’s cement capacity. The project reportedly incorporates energy-efficient equipment, low-carbon calcination technology and a full-process DCS automated control system, creating a closed loop from raw material crushing to packaging. The facility will generate 500 direct jobs, with 90% allocated to local workers.
Construction began on 28 October 2024 and was completed in just 11 months. The company said close coordination between the plant and EPC teams helped overcome multiple challenges to deliver the project.
Multipower International commissions NAS Cement Line 2
12 September 2025Iraq: Multipower International (MPI) has announced the successful commissioning of Line 2 at Najmat Al Samawa Cement plant, according to a post on LinkedIn. The commissioning was carried out by MPI’s team, certified by Fives Pillard, with additional remote support from Fives Pillard experts.
Cold commissioning involved testing the fuel handling skids without load, checking instrument functions and resolving hardware and software discrepancies. Hot commissioning included testing the skids under load, burner alignment, flame detection, control valve calibration, automation integration and operation of the full system.
Syria: The General Company for Cement and Building Materials (Al-Omran) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with UAE-based consultancy A³&Co. to develop a third production line at the Hama cement plant. The deal also covers technical workforce training and designates A³&Co. as strategic advisor to align the sector with global sustainability standards.
General manager of Al-Omran Mahmoud Fadila and A³&Co. CEO Amr Nader signed the agreement in Damascus. It includes reducing the industry’s environmental footprint, studying energy use to raise efficiency, and establishing workshops, evaluation systems and internationally accredited testing centres.
JK Cement approves 7Mt/yr expansion in Rajasthan and Punjab
18 August 2025India: JK Cement’s board has approved greenfield expansions totalling 7Mt/yr. The projects include a 4Mt/yr clinker line and 3Mt/yr grinding plant at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and two split grinding units of 2Mt/yr each in Rajasthan and Punjab. The investment is estimated at US$549m.
Saudi Arabia: Qassim Cement has signed a US$298m contract with Sinoma International Engineering to build a fourth production line at its Buraydah plant. The new line will have a production capacity of 10,000t/day.
CEO and board member of Qassim Cement Omar Al-Omar said that the project will replace ‘outdated’, low-efficiency production equipment while optimising the plant’s existing infrastructure. Al-Omar added that the project will support the company’s sustainable growth strategy, aimed at meeting domestic demand and diversifying products in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
