Vietnamese contract for FCT
24 April 2020Vietnam: US-based FCT Combustion has published details of a new contract with Vietnam National Coal and Minerals Industry Holding Group (Vinacomin) for the supply of an FCT Turbo-Jet burner to Vinacomin’s 0.6Mt/yr La Hiên plant in Thái Nguyên province. The upgrade aims to enable the use of lower calorific coal while maintaining clinker strength and specific fuel consumption, in order to reduce fuel costs.
FCT Combustion previously provided burners at Vinacomin’s 0.8Mt/yr Quan Trieu cement plant in 2019 and 1.5Mt/yr Quang Son cement plant in 2020, both in Thái Nguyên province.
Bahrain: Kingdom Group subsidiary Kingdom Cement will supply cement for Orchid Building Contracting’s Spiral Orchid Residence skyscraper in Water Garden City, Al Manamah. Gulf Construction has reported that Kingdom Cement operated a terminal and packing plant where it receives cement from multiple regional producers.
India: Representatives from Aditya Birla subsidiary UltraTech, Ramco Cements, India Cements, JSW Cement and KCP have met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy and other state officials to negotiate the sale of their products to construction companies working on public projects ‘at lower prices.’ The Hindu newspaper has reported that the state forecasts a year-on-year rise in its annual cement consumption of 67%, to 30Mt in 2020 from 18Mt in 2019. India Cements’ vice chair and managing director Narendra Srinavasan said that all planned infrastructure projects ‘ought to be implemented in order to bail out the industry from the turmoil it has been undergoing.’
US: Italy-based Buzzi-Unicem subsidiary Alamo Cement Company has signed a contract with Italy-based renewable power supply expert Renergetica for the construction of a solar power plant at its 1.1Mt/yr integrated Plant 1604 cement plant in San Antonio, Texas. Renewables Now News has reported that the plant will have a capacity of 10MW.
Titan Cement to upgrade Pennsuco kiln line
13 March 2020US: FCT combustion has announced that it has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with Titan Cement for the upgrade of its 5000t/d kiln line to 100% natural gas firing. The upgrade consists of the installation of two new burners: a dual-fuel capability Gyro-Therm Mk3 and a back-up natural gas-firing Gyro-Therm Mk3. The company has said that it will also supply accessories, field instruments, burner management system (BMS) and valve train.
Cement Corporation of India signs MoU with NHPC Limited
12 March 2020India: Cement Corporation of India has signed a memorandum of understanding with power supplier NHPC Limited in order to ‘address the cement requirement’ for the Dibang Multipurpose Project in Lower Dibang Valley district, Arunachal Pradesh. The project is aimed at the construction of a 2880MW hydroelectric power plant and gravity dam for flood control in the Dibang Valley.
Belarusian Cement Company opens Polish office
28 February 2020Poland: Belarusian Cement Company (BCC) says that it has responded to ‘increased demand for Belarusian cement in Central Europe in 2019’ by opening an office in Warsaw, Poland. Belarus Daily News has reported that one purported aim of the office is to court supply contracts with ‘European, Polish, German and other partners.’
Both Krichevtsementnoshifer and Krasnoselskstrojmaterialy, the remaining two of Belarus’s three cement producers, have reportedly concluded preliminary agreements for export of their cement to Poland in 2020.
Charah Solutions wins Entergy ash contract
27 February 2020US: Charah Solutions has secured a contract with energy supplier Entergy for provision of environmental services to three coal-fired power plants in Louisiana and Arkansas. The gives Charah Solutions the right to dispose of or market 0.9Mt/yr of coal combustion residuals (CCR), including to cement producers in the region for use as a cement additive.
Japan: Equipment supplier Kawasaki has announced that its Vega class of boiler will be used in Taiheiyo Cement’s 8MW waste heat recovery (WHR) power plant at its 1.4Mt/yr integrated Saitama cement plant. Kawasaki says that the advantages of the Vega boiler are a compact design, a shorter installation time, a reduced induced draft (ID) fan power consumption and excellent dust-removal performance.
ASK Cement plans integrated plant in Sverdlovsk
23 January 2020Russia: ASK Cement is set to begin development of a new integrated cement plant on a greenfield site near Yekaterinburg in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Germany-based Aumund has announced that it will supply KZB and KZB-Q pan conveyors, BZB bucket apron conveyors, SDG clinker silo discharge gates, BWZ chain bucket elevators and BWG-L belt bucker elevators to the project in early 2020. Aumund designed the line in collaboration with ASK Cement and its engineering partner Sibniiproject Cement Design Institute.
