Carmen Díaz appointed as commercial director of LafargeHolcim España

Spain: LafargeHolcim España has appointed Carmen Díaz as its commercial director. Díaz was previously the general manager of the group’s ReadySet Mix digital venture. She succeeds Simón Kronenberg in the post who has moved on to a new role with the group in Switzerland.
Díaz is a chemical engineer from the University of Oviedo and she also holds an MBA. She joined LafargeHolcim in 2002 and has held various roles including Area Manager in Madrid and the Vice President of Commercial Performance and Head of Ready Mix Commercial in France.
Boral appoints Kathryn Fagg as chairman

Australia: Boral has appointed Kathryn Fagg as chairman with effect from 1 July 2018. It follows the resignation of Brian Clark as chairman and a non-executive director due to health reasons. Clark has been a director of the company since 2007 and was elected chairman in late 2015.
Fagg, who joined the board in 2014, holds more than 25 years of executive and management experience across a range of industries in Australia and Asia, including steel based building products at BlueScope Steel, transport and logistics at Linfox Logistics Group, banking at ANZ and professional consulting services at McKinsey & Co.
Fagg commenced her professional career as a chemical engineer with Esso Australia, now Exxon Mobil. She holds a number of board positions, including as a non-executive director of Incitec Pivot and a non-executive director of Djerriwarrh Investments. She is the current president of Chief Executive Women and only recently completed a five year term as a director of the Reserve Bank of Australia.
Boral has also appointed Peter Alexander as its first North American-based non-executive director, with effect from 1 September 2018. Alexander has spent eight years as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Building Materials Holding Corporation and then the merged company BMC. He was president and CEO of ORCO Construction Distribution from 2005 to 2009 and was managing partner of KinderOaks Business Services from 2002 to 2005. He holds a BA from the Ohio State University and an MBA from the Pennsylvania State University.
Ted T Reese appointed as Executive Vice President of Cadence Environmental Energy

US: Cadence Environmental Energy has promoted Ted T Reese to Executive Vice President. Cadence provides technology for waste fuel recycling and emission reduction technology to the cement industry and is the exclusive supplier of waste-derived fuels for Ash Grove Cement. As part of the company’s succession plan founder Ted J Reese plans to hand over the presidency to Ted T Reese in 2019.
Carina Geber-Teir appointed as Senior Vice President, Communications by Cargotec

Finland: Carina Geber-Teir has been appointed as Senior Vice President, Communications by Cargotec. She will take the post by September 2018 at the latest. She will be responsible for leading communications, investor relations and sustainability function. She will be a member of Cargotec's Extended Executive Board and report to chief executive officer (CEO) Mika Vehviläinen. She succeeds Leena Lie, who has taken a new job at Huhtamäki Oyj.
Geber-Teir, aged 46 years, joins Cargotec from OP Financial Group, where she has been a member of the Executive Board and Chief Communications Officer since 2009. Prior to this she was Communications Director at Varma Mutual Pension Insurance.
Changes to board at ARM Cement forced by UK investment firm

Kenya: CDC Group has replaced its board members at ARM Cement Ketso Gordhan and Pepe Meijer with Sofia Bianchi and Rohit Anand. The UK government-backed investment company owns a 41% stake in the company. In addition ARM Cement has appointed Konstantin Makarov as its new executive director, replacing Rick Ashley who resigned in May 2018, and John Maonga as its company secretary. Maonga succeeds Ramesh Vora who resigned in April 2018.
Bianchi worked as head of Special Situations at Blue Crest Capital, a European hedge fund, from 2007 to 2016. She brings experience in investment roles from sectors including mining and telecommunications. Bianchi has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
Anand holds over 11 years of experience investing in emerging markets across Asia and Africa. He has invested in sectors across infrastructure, telecoms, manufacturing, logistics and healthcare. He is currently responsible for the Industrial Businesses equity investments team covering manufacturing, real estate and logistics across South Asia and Africa. Prior to joining CDC, Anand worked with IDFC Private Equity in Mumbai where he was part of a team managing around US$1.3bn focused on growth capital investments in infrastructure in India. Anand started his career with Ernst & Young’s corporate finance team in India. He is a CFA charter holder, holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management and a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Delhi.
Makarov holds over 15 years of experience in the financial markets in general and emerging markets in particular. He is responsible for launch of African practice and oversight of all sub-Saharan African and South East Asian transactions at StratLink Africa. Previously, he was directly responsible for market entry of US and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) based companies into sub-Saharan Africa and has been involved in activity focusing on emerging economies in Africa and South East Asia. He holds a Master of Science in Risk Management from Stern School of Business, New York University and Amsterdam Institute of Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Maonga, a Certified Public Secretary who is a Member and Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya, has over 30 years of experience in Company Secretarial and Registration Services.
