Wonder Cement ignites Chittorgarh cement plant's fourth kiln
21 November 2022India: Wonder Cement has completed a successful kiln ignition in its Chittorgarh cement plant's new Line 4. The three pre-existing lines gave the plant a former capacity of 8Mt/yr. Wonder Cement additionally operates grinding plants in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, with a total capacity of 5Mt/yr.
Vice chair Vimal Patni's technical assistant Lokesh Lohar congratulated the entire Chittorgarh cement plant team on its work on the latest expansion.
Paraguay: Cementos Concepción (CECON), a company belonging to the Cartes Group, has begun commissioning its US$300m cement plant in the Concepción Department. Test bags are currently being made, with commercial operations expected in late 2022 or early 2023.
Jorge Méndez, CECON's manager said that the test production represented an ‘historic day for the production of 100% Paraguayan cement.’ He added, “Cementos Concepción will bring many benefits to the country. Paraguay needs many infrastructure works, but the deficit of the lack of cement always played against us.”
The 1.0Mt/yr plant was built with the support of nine Paraguayan banks. Méndez emphasised that the cement plant is now generating labour in the ‘forgotten’ Department of Concepción.
Paraguay: Cementos Concepción (CECON) has started commissioning its new plant at San Lázaro in the Concepción department by grinding raw material. Alexander Gonzalez, the project manager for the plant, told La Nación newspaper that start-up of the unit had been successful and that the process would now continue along the production line. The plant’s kiln is expected to start operation in October 2022.
US: Sweden-based Bruks Siwertell has commissioned a Siwertell 490 F-type ship unloader at Colonial Group’s Georgia Kaolin Terminals in Savannah, Georgia. The unloader has a rated cement handling capacity of 800t/hr, discharging vessels of up to 55,000dwt.
HeidelbergCement India commissions 5.5MW solar plant
13 April 2022India: HeidelbergCement India has commissioned a 5.5MW solar power plant in its mining area located in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh. The mining operations and clinker plant at Damoh have started receiving electricity from the plant. The solar plant is expected to generate 10GWh/yr, replacing electricity purchased from the grid.
India: Shree Cement has commenced commercial production of clinker with the newly commissioned Kiln 3 of its Raipur cement plant in Chhattisgarh. The kiln has a production capacity of 4Mt/yr.
India: Shree Cement has fired up the kiln of a new clinker line at its Raipur cement plant in Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh. The Business Standard newspaper has reported that the company funded the project, involving the reactivation of the Raipur plant’s Kiln 3, from its internal accruals. It has also installed a new waste heat recovery (WHR) plant alongside the kiln. The line will augment Shree Cement’s supply of clinker to its grinding plants in Eastern India. It hopes thereby to contribute to growth and development in Chhattisgarh and beyond.
Togo: Cimenterie de la Côte ouest-africaine’s (CimCo) new 2.5Mt/yr grinding plant in Lomé is preparing to produce its first cement in March 2022. Germany-based Intercem Engineering says that construction work has been completed on the project and that the cladding is in place. Currently, the cold commissioning is in progress. The plant will operate as a subsidiary of CimMetal Group.
HN Ingenieros commissions new cement kiln line in Honduras
08 February 2022Honduras: HN Ingenieros has commissioned a new kiln line at a cement plant in Honduras. The supplier says that the line had previously been inactive since 2002, and is now the country’s largest.
UltraTech Cement commissions Line 2 at Bara grinding plant
12 January 2022India: UltraTech Cement has commissioned the new 2Mt/yr Line 2 of its Bara grinding plant in Uttar Pradesh. The additional capacity will help the company to serve the growing Central Indian cement market. Its total installed capacity is now 115Mt/yr, up by 2.9% year-on-year from 111Mt.
UltraTech Cement says that the Bara grinding plant, which opened in January 2020, operated at 80% capacity utilisation in the 2020 financial year.
