Bank governor seeking re-election to Bamburi board

Kenya: Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) deputy governor Sheila M’Mbijiwe is seeking re-election to the board of LafargeHolcim majority-owned Bamburi Cement. A notice sent to shareholders stated that the CBK senior executive will be seeking a new mandate when the company holds its 65th annual general meeting on 2 June 2016 in Mombasa. The 58-year-old senior CBK executive, who also sits on the regulator’s Monetary Policy Committee, was set to retire by rotation but is seeking to retain the seat.
Others seeking re-election are Daniel Patterson and D Drouet who are also retiring by rotation but are eligible to seek to be elected again.
Jagdish Chandra Toshniwal appointed managing director of Wonder Cement

India: Wonder Cement has appointment of Jagdish Chandra Toshniwal as its managing director. Toshniwal takes over from DP Somani who was with the company for over seven years.
Toshniwal originally studied at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani. He started his career with Udaipur Cement in 1975 before spending nearly 18 years working for Ambuja Cement. Toshniwal joined Wonder Cement in 2015 as an executive director.
Pascal Jager joins Trapo

Germany: Pascal Jager has joined Trapo AG as its international sales contact for French-speaking areas. Jager, aged 47 years, is a machine building engineer who brings technical competence from the automotive, packing and food sectors.
Trapo is a specialist in conveying technology, robotic systems and automation and it develops, manufactures and commissions production systems. The special, intelligent components of the conveying and handling systems are manufactured in Gescher-Hochmoor.
Dilip Gaur starts tenure as managing director of Grasim Industries

India: Dilip Gaur has replaced K K Maheshwari as the managing director of Grasim Industries, with effect from 1 April 2016. Maheshwari will remain on the board as a non-executive director.
Gaur was previously the deputy-managing director of Ultratech Cement. Before that he worked for Birla Copper, Alexandria Carbon Black and Pan Century Edible Oils. He also worked for over 20 years with Hindustan Unilever. Gaur holds a bachelor of engineering degree in chemicals and took the Advanced Management Program at Harvard, US.
Peter Nelson appointed interim chairman of PPC

South Africa: PPC has appointed Peter Nelson as its interim chairman following the retirement of Bheki Sibiya. A permanent replacement for Sibiya is expected to be recruited by September 2016.
Nelson was appointed to the Board as an independent non-executive director on 25 January 2015. His experience covers manufacturing, mining, telecommunications, healthcare, leisure, property, packaging and the motor industry in listed and private entities in South Africa, the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. He has served as chief financial officer on several Boards including Telkom, Netcare and Mondi.
