The 12th Global Slag Conference & Exhibition has successfully taken place in Düsseldorf, Germany, attracting 130 delegates from 29 countries to listen to 19 presentations over two days, alongside an exhibition of slag-related services and equipment.
The Irish slag cement producer Ecocem has been ‘bucking the trend’ of cement sector consolidation in Europe over the past few years as it has expanded both its production base and product range. The company endured a tough time during the recession in Ireland but has now positioned itself strongly for future challenges.
This is a make-or-break moment for economists and government alike: trying to draw a vision for the future of the UK economy at a time when the nation is redefining the very foundations of its relationship with the rest of the world.
Interpack, the triennial and world’s largest packaging fair, took place in Düsseldorf May 4-10. Reportedly 74% of the approximately 170,500 visitors travelled to Düsseldorf from abroad. The 2865 exhibitors from 60 countries were spread over 19 exhibition halls.
