Manfred Bracher resigns from board of RKW

Germany: Manfred Bracher has resigned from the executive management board of RKW and will leave the company at the end of June 2019 to pursue new professional opportunities. RKW’s chief executive officer (CEO) Harald Biederbick will take over his responsibilities until further notice.
Bracher started his professional career as a project leader at the Austria’s Lenzing Group, followed by 12 years at the Finnish packaging manufacturer Huhtamaki in various positions, including General Manager Films. From 2008 until 2013, he served as managing director at Clopay Europe. He has been a member of the RKW board since January 2014 and leads the Division Hygiene & Industrial. In addition to that, he is also responsible for group operational excellence and purchasing.
RKW Group manufactures film solutions including products for powdery goods and films and non-wovens for the construction sector.
Former Lafarge chief Bertrand Collomb dies

France: Bertrand Collomb, the former president of Lafarge, has died at the age of 76 years. He was the chief executive officer (CEO) of the building materials company from 1989 to 2003 and was later its president until 2007.
Collomb joined Lafarge in 1975 after various roles in government. He became the CEO of its North American subsidiary in 1985 before leading the company as a whole. Notable achievements during his tenure included the acquisition of the UK’s Redland and Blue Circle. Lafarge also set up a Chinese joint-venture in 1994 before many of its Western competitors.
Stephen Nthei appointed acting managing director of East Africa Portland Cement

Kenya: East Africa Portland Cement has appointed Stephen Nthei as its acting managing director. He succeeds Simon Peter Ole Nkeri, who was relieved of the role by the company’s board, according to the Standard newspaper. Nthei joined the company in 2007 and has held various roles, including Head of Internal Audit and Head of Financial Management. He is a Certified Public Accountant with experience working for bodies including Ernst & Young, the Central Bank of Kenya and Kenya Petroleum Refineries.
Amit Bhatia appointed as chairman of Breedon Group

UK: Breedon Group has appointed Amit Bhatia as its non-executive chairman with immediate effect. He has served as deputy chairman since April 2018 and he succeeds Peter Tom, who has retired. Bhatia created Hope Construction Materials and served as its executive chairman for over three years until it was acquired by Breedon in mid-2016, at which point he joined the board of Breedon.
Yeoh Khoon Cheng resigns as chief executive officer of Lafarge Malaysia

Malaysia: Yeoh Khoon Cheng has resigned as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Lafarge Malaysia. He will remain as the group’s executive director, according to the Edge Malaysia.
Several executives of YTL Corporation have been appointed to Lafarge Malaysia’s board. YTL’s executive chairman Francis Yeoh and managing director Yeoh Seok Kian have been made executive directors of Lafarge Malaysia. Other members of the Yeoh family appointed to Lafarge Malaysia’s board as executive directors are Yeoh Soo Keng and Yeoh Seok Hong. In addition, Lafarge Malaysia’s vice-chairman Martin Kriegner and non-independent and non-executive director John William Stull and Pei Ling have resigned.
