Germany: Intercem Engineering is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary on 14 April 2023. The group was originally founded over 50 years ago when it started by selling used machines to the cement industry. Anther subsidiary, Intercem Installation, was founded in 2007.
At present, Intercem Group consists of Intercem Engineering, Intercem Installation, both based in Oelde in Germany, and Intercem Cement, based in Zug in Switzerland. The company’s production plant is also located in Oelde. The three companies are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Switzerland-based Intercem Holding. The group currently employs around 50 people, mainly engineers and technicians.
Intercem offers services in cement plant construction from a single source. This ranges from individual components to upgrades of existing plants up to complete cement plants. It exports around 80% of its services with its main sales markets in West Africa, France, Sweden and Germany.
West Africa: Germany-based InterCem has successfully despatched its second InterHop hopper to West Africa. The hopper will handle clinker and raw materials for an unnamed customer there. The supplier says that the equipment offers an unloading rate of 14,400t/hr. It produced it in the UAE.
CimMetal Group and Intercem Engineering near completion of 2.5Mt/yr Lomé grinding plant
22 September 2021Togo: Germany-based Intercem Engineering says that CimMetal Group’s upcoming 2.5Mt/yr Lomé grinding plant is on track for commissioning ‘at short notice’ in late 2021. The supplier has delivered a 1000tph truck unloading station, a 25,000tph storage facility for additives, a 1000tph truck loading station, two 50,000t clinker silos, four Rotopackers, eight truck loading stations, ten truck scales and laboratory equipment, alongside steel construction, sheet metal fabrication, subsystems, electrical equipment and complete engineering services.It is also supervising the erection and commissioning of the plant. It said that all material conveyor belts are mounted in a closed gallery to ensure dust-free transport. The belt system is also designed for fully automatic ship unloading.
The plant is the third delivered for CimMetal Group by InterCem Engineering and partners InterCem Installation and Switzerland-based InterCem Cement, after one in Burkino Faso and one in Ivory Coast.
Togo: Germany’s Intercem Engineering has been awarded a contract by CimMetal Group to build a 2.5Mt/yr cement grinding plant in Lomé. The opening ceremony for the project is expected to take place soon and production is scheduled to start in early 2021. No value for the order has been disclosed.
The order includes a 1000t/hr truck unloading station, a 25,000t/hr storage facility for additives, a 1000t/hr truck loading station, two 50,000t clinker silos, four packing machines, eight truck loading stations, 10 truck scales and the corresponding laboratory equipment. The steel construction, the entire sheet metal fabrication, the subsystems, the electrical equipment, the complete engineering, the supervision of erection and commissioning are also included in the scope of supply and services. All of the equipment will be supplied by European manufacturers. All material conveyors have a capacity of 1200t/hr and are installed in a closed gallery to ensure dust-free transport. This was planned because of the location in the immediate vicinity of the port in Lomé.
Intercem wins order for cement grinding plant in Guinea
12 February 2019Guinea: Germany’s Intercem has won an order to build a new 500t/day cement grinding plant for Les Cimenteries de la Basse-Guinée. Ground breaking is scheduled for the start of March 2019. Cement production is expected in mid-2020. No value for the contract has been disclosed.
The contract includes: a raw material storage with a capacity of 12,000t; a 70t/hr cement grinding plant with a vertical roller mill with four rollers and installed power of 1.25kW and a high efficiency separator; the transport to two 1000t cement silos; two truck loading stations for bulk cement; a packing plant with eight-spout rotary packer and two loading stations for bagged cement; the sub-systems; the electrical equipment; the complete engineering; the supervision of the erection; and the commissioning. All the equipment will be delivered from European manufacturers.
New orders for Intercem in Germany and Russia
08 February 2019Germany/Russia: Intercem has been awarded new orders in Germany and Russia. In Russia it will supply a high-efficiency separator ICS 143, as well as the associated plant aggregates to a new cement plant. The high-efficiency separator, an in-house development manufactured in the company workshop, has a capacity of 115t/hr at 3000cm2/g acc. to Blaine and a total output of 258t/hr. The volume flow classifying air is 143.000m3/hr. The scope of supply also includes the engineering for the complete grinding plant as well as the supervision of the assembly and the commissioning of the components included in the delivery.
In Germany it will supply silos for Zementwek Lübeck’s grinding plant. The order includes a silo unit consisting of four steel silos with a capacity of 1200m3 each. In addition, the bulk loading and the complex cement conveying via air slides and bucket elevators leading over the complete area of the plant are part of the scope of supply. The scope of supply also includes the engineering and associated plant components, such as support structure, catwalks, filters, bucket elevators, return lines, electrical equipment, as well as building application and dispatch automation. Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2019.
The German engineering company has also won a contract to optimise a secondary fuel dosing system at a German cement plant.
Ivory Coast: Intercem has received an order for a ship-unloading project for Ciments de l'Afrique (CIMAF) and has completed a project for Cim Ivoire. Both projects were received from Sea Invest on behalf of the end clients.
The CIMAF project for a cement grinding plant in San Pedro was agreed in February 2018. The order is an expansion of an existing ship unloading system. The contract was agreed by the Vice President of CIMAF in San Pedro, Melik Sefrioui, and Intercem’s General Manager, Olaf Michelswirth. The order includes a 3D scan of the existing system to ensure planning security. Intercem will perform the engineering, the foundation works, the deliveries, the assembly and the commissioning. Completion of the order is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018.
The order for Cim Ivoire was first received in late 2016. It included the delivery of trough belt conveyors as well as all related components and the transfer tower on an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) base: from the piling, the foundation works, the steel construction, the cladding of the building, the roofing of the belt bridges, the necessary filters and chutes to the electrical equipment.
The ship unloading system includes two belts with a length of 100m and a capacity of 1200t/hr. The first belt can be charged with material from a hopper over its entire length. Two towers were built, one with a height of about 8m and one of about 34m of height. A generator situated in the lower part of the transfer tower two assures the emergency power supply.
The ship unloading system is connected to two 50,000t clinker silos and the raw material shed for Cim Ivoire. Thus a truck-free unloading of clinker and raw material will be achieved to suit the new regulations of the port authorities in Abidjan.
Intercem to supply ball mill to Cem’In’Eu
18 September 2017France: Intercem has won an order to supply Cem’In’Eu with a cement grinding plant. Intercem will supply a Ø 3.20m x 10.00m EGL closed circuit ball mill with a IVS 62 vertical air separator. The groundbreaking ceremony for the unit will be held in October 2017 and the start of production is scheduled for April 2018.
The first compartment of the mill will be equipped with lifting liners to aid coarse grinding. The second compartment will be equipped with a three-step classifying liner system to provide ball sorting with a fine grinding action. An intermediate diaphragm will allow the adjustment of material flow levels to optimise material level in both compartments. The mill will be powered by a 1300kW side drive. Product collection will be arranged by direct separation using a 70,000m3/hr air jet filter.
Intercem will be responsible for plant engineering and documentation, including mechanical, civil and electrical engineering, programming works and documentation, mechanical assembly works and their supervision as well as mechanical and process commissioning and the training for operators. No value for the order has been disclosed.
Cem’In’Eu is a new cement producer with projects planned for sites at Tonneins in Lot et Garonne, at Port Fluvial de Chalon-sur-Saône in Saône et Loire and at Port d’Ottmarsheim in Haut-Rhin. The company plans to invest around Euro20m at each site. It also has development projects in Poland and in the UK.
Intercem replaces transformer at Cimfaso Cement
17 March 2017Burkina Faso: Intercem has reported that it replaced the main transformer at the Cimfaso Cement plant in 10 days in February 2017 from the initial order to the resumption of production at the unit. Following a problem with the local power grid the transformer was damaged and production stopped. Intercem dismantled and flew the transformer from Germany to Burkina Faso and then supervised its reassembly, connection and commissioning including customs and visa clearance.
New order for Intercem placed by Sea Invest in Abidjan
07 December 2016Ivory Coast: Intercem has been awarded an additional order by Sea Invest for the raw material transport at the 8000t/day cement grinding and packing plant that the contractor is building for Cim Ivoire in Abidjan. The transport system will link an Eco Hopper to the clinker silos and the additive storage at the site. Commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2017.
The order includes the delivery of trough belt conveyors as well as all related components and the transfer tower on an engineering, procurement and construction base including the piling, the foundation works, the steel construction, the cladding of the building, the roofing of the belt bridges, the necessary filters and chutes to the electrical equipment, installation and the commissioning. The scope of supply contains the measurement of the local conditions with a 3D scanning system as well as the mechanical, electrical and civil engineering.
