Monarch Cement increases sales in 2021
16 March 2022US: Monarch Cement’s net sales were US$212m in 2021, up by 12% year-on-year from US$189m in 2020. Its cement sales volumes increased by 12% year-on-year to 1.2Mt. Monarch Cement invested US$24m in new equipment in 2021, including 27 new ready-mix trucks, six new cement haul trucks, three loaders and two excavators. It plans to launch Portland limestone cement (PLC) products later in 2022.
Kavkazcement purchases new excavator
28 May 2020Russia: Eurocement subsidiary Kavkazcement has announced its acquisition of a Hitachi excavator for use at its clay quarry. The reasons behind the choice of excavator were its high productivity and low operating costs.
Kavkazcement director general Oleg Lopatin said, “The hydraulic excavator will develop clay reserves in areas complicated by large slopes, increasing the economic efficiency of raw material extraction and ensuring the stability of the final product. Kavkazcement systematically modernises all stages of production, which allows us to guarantee high quality and reliability of product deliveries to key construction sites in the south of Russia.”
TimluyCement receives new excavator
28 April 2020Russia: TimluyCement has received a Hyundai Robex 210W-9S excavator at its 0.8Mt/yr Timluisky plant. The vehicle replaces the plant’s Twex EK-14. The new excavator is equipped with a bulldozer blade, outriggers and a hydraulic line for attachments and has a bucket capacity of 1.1m3. A Webasto pre-heater will warm up the engine before starting it in the cold season, increasing service life. TimluyCement managing director Vladimir Klichko said, “The modernization of the fleet of special equipment is an integral part of our production process. By acquiring high-performance, reliable vehicles, we increase work efficiency, minimise operating costs and also improve the working conditions of our employees.”
Hyundai previously provided the Timluisky plant with front-end loaders.
Chinese cement production rebounds
14 April 2020China: The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has published data showing 94% domestic cement production capacity utilisation in the two-week period ending 10 April 2020, marking an end to coronavirus shutdowns in all provinces. Excavator sales in March 2020 numbered 49,400, up by 12% year-on-year from 44,300 in March 2019. Construction materials analyst Xu Xianchun said, "Demand in the construction industry has basically recovered to 2019's level, driven by new and resumed projects." Xinhua News Agency has reported that cement prices have also climbed on a month-by-month basis.
Germany: Holcim Deutschland’s Kollenbach cement plant in Beckum has commissioned a Zeppelin Cat 6030 FS hydraulic excavator. The machine is 15m long, 7.5m high and it has an engine power of 1500HP. It will mine at least 470t/hr of limestone from the plant’s quarry. The excavator was purchased due to the height and thickness of the marl layers in the deposit. Material from the quarry will then be transported 2.5km by truck to a stationary primary crusher before use at the cement plant.
