Afghanistan: The first integrated cement plant in southern Afghanistan was inaugurated in the province of Kandahar on 29 October 2026, according to Xinhua News Agency. Built on 40 hectares of land at a cost of US$113m, the plant has a production capacity of 0.5Mt/yr of cement. Sayed Sarwar Amani, head of the Kandahar Chamber of Industries and Mines, said that the plant’s capacity would increase to 1.65Mt/yr in the future.
