Belarusian Cement releases production figures for 2024

Belarus: Belarusian Cement enterprises produced 5.34Mt of cement in 2024, up by 7% year-on-year, with shipments rising by 10% and total sales to domestic and foreign markets by 6.5%.

The holding company’s three plants, OJSC Krasnoselskstroymaterialy, Belarusian Cement Plant and OJSC Krichevcementnoshifer, accounted for 86.5% of domestic cement sales in the first quarter of 2025. The group also exports to Russia, supplying up to 10% of demand in the Central and Northwestern Federal Districts. It plans to increase market share further by modernising its production lines.

Belarusian Cement Company reaches agreement with Khakassia for coal deliveries

04 November 2024

Belarus/Russia: Belarusian Cement Company has reached an agreement with the Republic of Khakassia for the delivery of regular coal shipments for its cement plants. The new agreement will ensure the weekly transport of approximately four trains loaded with coal from November 2024 - January 2025, meeting 100% of the demand of the Belarusian plants.

Belarusian Cement to build Moscow logistics facility

10 June 2024

Russia: Belarusian Cement has concluded a deal with the Moscow regional government to build a logistics facility in the region at Naro-Fominsk. Prime Press News has reported that the facility will cost US$22.5m. It will be equipped with ready-mix concrete, precast concrete and dry mix plants, as well as a rail terminal, storage areas and loading zones for despatches by road.

Director General Alexander Dovgalo said "This investment will not only bolster our logistics capabilities but also enhance our service quality for Russian partners and extend our market reach within Russia and the CIS member states."

Management company of Belarusian Cement Company added to US sanctions list

07 December 2023

Belarus: The US government sanctioned the management company of Belarusian Cement Company on 6 December 2023. PrimePress News has reported that 10 other Belarus-based companies and eight individuals were also added to the US sanctions list. This is the latest group of additions since the US and its allies began sanctioning Belarusian entities in connection to election rigging, human rights abuses and complicity in the on-going Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Belarusian Cement Company's exemption from customs duty and VAT extended

24 November 2022

Belarus: The government has extended Belarusian Cement Company's exemption from paying customs duties and value added tax (VAT) on its goods imports until 31 December 2023. PrimePress News has reported that the cement producer had previously been exempt from payments up until 30 September 2022.

Belarusian domestic cement sales on Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange forecast at 1.5Mt in 2022

Belarus: The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange says that it expects to auction 1.5Mt of cement in 2022. BELTA News has reported that the figure corresponds to 50% of the annual production of Belarusian Cement Company.

Krasnoselskstroimaterialy cuts production costs by Euro1.34m in 2020

Belarus: Belarusian Cement Company subsidiary Krasnoselskstroimaterialy has reported total costs savings across its operations of Euro1.34m in 2020. Belarus: Daily News has reported that the company undertook several and diverse measures to achieve the reduction.

The company said, "We have replaced imported bottom ash mix with high-aluminium clay from our own deposit.” It added, “The coal content of the fuel mix rose to 85%. We have also optimised the use of raw materials in the production of cinder blocks. This has helped to reduce the cost of their production by means of decreasing the usage rates for cement, lime and thermal energy."

Ukraine court upholds anti-dumping duties on cement from Russia, Belarus and Moldova

14 January 2021

Ukraine: The District Administrative Court of Kiev has dismissed Belarusian Cement Company (BCC)’s claim against the government’s Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade for the cancellation of anti-dumping duties on cement. The duties on imported cement are 57% the value of goods from Belarus, 94% from Moldova and 115% from Russia. The commission introduced the tariffs in late May 2019 and they will expire in late May 2024.

The law firm representing third parties Dyckerhoff Cement Ukraine, HeidelbergCement Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk Ukraine and CRH subsidiary Podilsky Cement said "The court recognised the need to protect the violated rights of national cement producers in Ukraine from dumped imports of goods to Ukraine.” It added that the imports had caused ‘significant damage’ to national producers.

Belarusian Cement Company reports 12% sales volume growth to 1.85Mt in first five months of 2020

06 July 2020

Belarus: Belarusian Cement Company (BCC) sold 1.85Mt of cement over the first five months of 2020, up by 12% year-on-year from 1.65Mt in the corresponding period of 2019. The Belarusian Architecture and Construction Ministry has reported that, of BCC’s three subsidiaries, Krichevtsementnoshifer recorded the largest sales growth in the period, of 9.6% to 465,000t. Belarusian Cement Mill sold 657,000t, up by 3.6%, including 249,000t to Russia, and Krasnoselskstroymaterialy sold 568,000t, up by 0.2%.

Belarus Cement Company launches smaller-packaged cement

30 September 2019

Belarus: Belarus Cement Company (BCC) has begun selling its cement in 15kg bags in addition to its usual 25kg. BCC general director Alexsandr Dovgalo has said the company intends the move to increase the ability of its product to meet consumer demand.
