Man Diesel & Turbo supplies six engines to China Gezhouba Group cement plant project in Iraq
01 June 2017Iraq: Germany’s Man Diesel & Turbo has delivered six Man 18V32/40 engines, including gensets and mechanical equipment to CGGC-UN Power Co (Gezhouba Group) in Samawah. CGGC is acting as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor in a project building a 50MW captive power plant for a cement plant to be operated by Kairat Al Abar Iraqi (KAAI). The engines will run on heavy fuel oil (HFO) in base load mode. The cement plant is being built by China’s Sinoma.
Saudi Arabia: A new on-site power plant at United Cement Industrial Company's (UCIC) cement plant in Saudi Arabia will be operated and maintained by MAN Diesel & Turbo. MAN Diesel & Turbo was also responsible for building the 54MW power plant, near Jeddah, where five MAN 20V32/44 CR diesel engines provide electrical power for the new cement plant. A five-year contract with UCIC for operation and maintenance includes the option of an extension for another five years.
Saudi Arabia: MAN Diesel & Turbo has received an order from the United Cement Industrial Company to build a 54.5MW captive power plant for a new 5000t/day cement plant located in the south of the country.
MAN Diesel & Turbo is building the power plant under an Engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) agreement covering delivery of the engines and the erection of all essential ancillary equipment. A consortium partner is responsible for local deliveries and services. Construction of the plant is set to begin in late 2013, with delivery of the engines due to take place in mid-2014.
"We believe there is tremendous potential in the domain of local power plant solutions for independent energy generation in particular, for example for cement or steel works. The United Cement Industrial Company is a new client for us and one we have convinced with our technical concept," said Dr Rene Umlauft, CEO of MAN Diesel & Turbo.
