US: Silvi Cement, a division of Silvi Materials, has announced a significant expansion of its cementitious materials distribution network, with new facilities in North Carolina and Ohio.

The company has opened a temporary cement rail load-out facility at the deep-water port of Morehead City, North Carolina, now fully operational for pickup and delivery. Construction is also underway on a major cement import terminal at the same site, scheduled to open in 2027. The upcoming terminal will feature two 100,000t domes for Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag, with round-the-clock truck loading and direct rail loadout capabilities.

Silvi is simultaneously developing a large-scale, rail-served cement distribution terminal in Central Ohio, expected to open in spring 2026. Designed to handle over 250,000t/yr, the facility will distribute Type I/II low-alkali cement and Grade 120 slag to meet rising demand across the Midwest. Until the Morehead City domes are completed, both terminals will be supplied by rail from Silvi’s flagship cement terminal in Bristol, Pennsylvania, which houses three domes with a combined storage capacity of 165,000t.

US: Hollingshead Cement, a division of SRM Concrete, has opened a cement terminal in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on the same site as an SRM Concrete ready-mix plant and block production facility. The terminal will receive cement by rail and can store over 50,000t.

SRM Concrete CEO Jeff Hollingshead said “We are excited to begin distributing cement from our new facility in Chattanooga. With this investment, we are better positioned to ensure a consistent and reliable supply of cement across our entire network of ready-mix and block locations, while also serving our cement customers with greater efficiency.”

The facility is the eleventh in Hollingshead Cement’s US terminal network, which supplies bulk cement for multiple construction applications.

Germany: Aumund Group has integrated the Dutch bulk material expert ESI Eurosilo into its operations, effective 25 June 2025. The acquisition strengthens Aumund’s position as a full-range bulk material handling provider, adding vertical storage systems to its portfolio.

CEO of AUMUND Group Pietro de Michieli said “By integrating ESI Eurosilo, we are adding a strategically important component to our offering – safe, space-saving and environmentally friendly storage of bulk materials.”

Philippines: A new 7-hectare port and industrial complex, valued at over US$51m, is under construction in Lemery, Batangas. The complex includes the Sinisian Lemery Batangas port and industrial park, Lemery cement silo tank and Lemery oil terminal, with each component costing around US$17m.

The port will support Panamax-sized vessels with a draft depth of 15m, while the cement silo will hold 60,000t of bulk cement and slag. The project is expected to generate at least 200 jobs and help meet the country's fuel security needs amidst ongoing global supply chain disruptions.

Egypt: Abu Dhabi Ports Group subsidiary Transcargo International (TCI) is building a bulk cement terminal at Arish port in North Sinai Governorate. The company says that the facility will be equipped with six 10,000t cement silos. Four silos will store up to 40,000t of grey cement, while two will store up to 20,000t/yr of white cement. Cementir Holding subsidiary Sinai White Portland Cement has signed a cooperation agreement with TCI to use the Arish cement terminal. TCI says that the terminal will serve multiple markets worldwide and help Sinai White Portland Cement to raise its total export volumes, thereby also raising its competitiveness.

TCI’s CEO Mohamed El Ahwal said "This project aligns with our commitment to support Egyptian exports by providing specialised logistics solutions across several industries. Building and operating Egypt’s first bulk cement terminal, we anticipate cost savings for cement producers in Egypt, making prices more competitive globally and increasing global market penetration."
