Nepal exports 1.04t of cement and clinker to India in 2023 financial year

Nepal: Cement and clinker exports to India totalled 1.04Mt throughout the 2023 financial year, which ended on 15 July 2023. The República newspaper has reported that three separate cement companies exported their products during the year. Palpa Cement Industry began exports in July 2022, followed by Arghakhachi Cement in October 2022 and Balaji Cement in June 2023.

Total Nepalese export volumes to India were 607,000t of cement, worth US$2.74m, and 397,000t of clinker, worth US$3.21m.

Arghakhachi Cement to issue initial public offering

Nepal: Arghakhachi Cement has announced that it will issue general shares in an initial public offering (IPO) in the 2023 financial year. The exact date of the IPO is to be released later, according to the Republica newspaper. Separately, the cement producer has received certification from the Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology to produce 43 grade Ordinary Portland Cement.

Arghakhachi Cement and Jagdamba Cement to build new plants in Nepal

Nepal: Arghakhachi Cement and Jagdamba Cement are planning to build new cement plants. Arghakhachi Cement is spending US$48m on building a new integrated plant, according to the Kathmandu Post newspaper. The new plant will be launched by mid-2018. The company already operates an integrated cement plant at Birpur in Kapilvastu.

Jagdamba Cement is planning to build a 1500t/day cement plant in eastern Bhairahawa. The new unit will create 400 jobs. The cement producer operates two cement-grinding plants at Bhairahawa and Birgunj. The company produces Ordinary Portland Cement, Pozzolana Portland Cement and Pozzolana Slag Cement products.
