Osman Nemli resigns as head of Bursa Çimento
31 January 2024Türkiye: Osman Nemli has resigned as the general manager of Bursa Çimento. No reason for his departure has been disclosed. He had been in post for eight years according to local media. Barbaros Onulay, the head of subsidiary Bursa Beton, will act as the general manager until the company’s board of directors appoints a replacement.
Turkey: Medcem has appointed Ruhi Bilge as the director of its integrated Mersin cement plant. He has worked in the cement sector for over 20 years, most recently holding the position of production director for Kümaş Refractories. Prior to this he worked for cement companies including Bursa Çimento, Vicat’s subsidiary Baştaş Çimento and Norm Cement.
FLSmidth details clinker line order from Bursa Çimento
10 December 2020Turkey: Denmark-based FLSmidth has released details about a new clinker production line it is currently supplying to Bursa Çimento. Work at the site is underway at present covering the line from crushing to clinker cooling. The new line is scheduled to start at the end of 2022. FLSmidth says the equipment it is supplying includes a Hotdisc Combustion Device, which will help increase the substitution rate to 86%, the highest in Turkey. The order also includes an OK Raw Mill, a Rotax-2 kiln, Pfister feeders and new air pollution process filters.
"The modernisation of our Bursa site is a strategic investment, providing us with a more competitive cost base,” said Osman Nemli, General Manager at Bursa Çimento. “But just as important is the entire upgrade which focuses on reducing emissions and power consumption. In this way, we are proactively mitigating future possible environmental regulation."
Bursa Çimento launches 7.5MW waste heat recovery system
30 April 2014Turkey: Bursa Çimento Fabrikası has started the commercial operation of its 7.5MW waste heat recovery system. The Euro14.3m system was put into operation following a successful test operation, according to Bursa Çimento. The plant can generate some 50MkWh of electricity from waste heat and save some 28,000t/yr of carbon dioxide emissions.
