Egypt: Helwan Cement has ordered a vertical roller mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer to grind coal at one of its cement plants in Egypt. Delivery of the coal mill is scheduled for the end of 2016. The order was placed by Beijing Triumph International Engineering.
The type MPS 3350 BK coal mill will have an installed gearbox power of 1050kW. It is designed to grind 80t.hr of coal to a product fineness of 12% residue on 90μm and 60t/hr of pet coke to a product fineness of 6% residue on 90μm. Gebr. Pfeifer’s personnel will also supervise erection and commissioning.
Cambodia: Chip Mong Group has ordered three vertical roller mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer for a new cement production line in Touk Meas. The order comprises a MPS 3350 BK for coal, a MVR 5000 R-4 for raw material and a MVR 6000 C-6 for cement grinding. The cement mill will come equipped with a MultiDrive consisting of four drive modules. This drive system has an installed power of 7200kW to allow redundant operation.
The MVR 6000 C-6 cement mill will be the largest vertical roller mill in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. It will be set up in cooperation with CITIC Heavy Industries. Delivery of the mills is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2017.
Emami Cement orders third Gebr. Pfeiffer mill
11 January 2016India: Emami Cement Ltd has made three recent orders for mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer. The first Gebr. Pfieffer mill is for its greenfield cement plant in Chhattisgarh, which is currently under construction. The second is destined for a standalone grinding unit in West Bengal. This order is currently being processed.
The latest mill order is for a grinding plant in Odisha. The order covers a MVR 6000 C-6 mill with an installed drive power of 6700kW. This mill will be capable of producing 335t/hr of ordinary Portland cement (OPC). The grinding plant will be designed in a way to allow fly ash cement and granulated blast-furnace slag to be ground to a fineness of 3800cm²/g and 4000cm²/g acc. to Blaine, respectively.
The MVR 6000 C-6 mill with is its six rollers has an actively redundant system. In case of an unplanned outage of one grinding roller, it allows the mill to continue in operation with four rollers while the roller swung out of the mill is being worked on outside of the mill. When it comes to cement grinding, where regular and planned maintenance works are scheduled for the regeneration of the grinding elements, this concept offers the customer the option to carry out maintenance works on two rollers outside the mill while at the same time cement can continue to be produced, albeit at a somewhat lower capacity.
Thanks to the modular design of the MVR mills, the essential components, such as bearings, seals of the grinding rollers and the tension system, as well as the gear units of the mill main drive, will be designed so as to be identical to the parts of the MVR mills that have been supplied to Emami Cement previously, i.e. an MVR 6000 R-6 and an MVR 6000 C-6. This will enable Emami Cement to manage with a small pool of strategic spare parts, which can be used with all the MVR mills.
Gebr. Pfeiffer SE will supply the core components of the mills and the gear units from Europe. Its Indian subsidiary, Gebr. Pfeiffer (India) Pvt. Ltd., will provide components such as the housing of the mill and classifier, the steel foundation parts as well as all static and dynamic interior parts of the classifier and, in addition, supply some of the equipment required to complete the grinding plant. Moreover, the Indian subsidiary will do the plant layout and advise Emami Cement on the equipment it must procure itself.
HeidelbergCement’s Burglengenfeld cement plant to be upgraded
09 December 2015Germany: HeidelbergCement has decided to modernise its Burglengenfeld cement plant in Germany with parts and services from IKN and Gebr. Pfeiffer.
IKN won the contract for the engineering, supply and installation of a complete 4000t/day pyro line, from raw meal feeding to clinker discharge. Included in the scope of supply are integration engineering, supply and installation of add-on components for the raw meal grinding plant. The upgraded plant will feature state-of-the-art technology to comply with the targeted production level and future emission limits.
The new line will consist of a two-string, five-stage preheater tower with inline calciner. IKN's preheater and calciner design will ensure minimum pressure drop at maximum performance and high efficiency. The kiln line will be optimised to use of a variety of alternative fuels. Among several innovative features will be a tertiary air duct damper, which has proven successful in operation for more than three years with outstanding reliability and performance. Another essential component of the plant is IKN's Pendulum Cooler, which is highly reliable and has low maintenance and operational costs. Its design allows recirculating bypass gas into the recuperation zone to boost cooler efficiency.
As part of the modernisation of the kiln line, the four existing MPS vertical roller mills will be replaced after forty years of successful operation. HeidelbergCement has ordered two new Gebr. Pfeiffer MPS 4250 B roller mills as replacements. Each mill is designed to achieve a capacity of 200t/hr of cement raw material ground to a fineness of 12% R90µm. The drive power per mill is 2250kW. Gebr. Pfeiffer will also supply the complete equipment for the external material circulation system as well as the cyclone collectors and mill fans. The supply of the mechanical equipment will be completed by engineering services covering the plant layout and the integration of the process-related ductwork within the existing, complex plant. Raw mill 1 is scheduled to go on stream at the end of 2016 and raw mill 2 is scheduled to start operations in 2017.
Ecuador: Gebr. Pfeiffer Inc, a subsidiary of Germany's Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, was recently contracted to supply a complete grinding unit to replace aging ball mills at the Hormicreto clinker plant in Ecuador.
The new grinding unit helps reduce energy consumption and improves the overall grinding efficiency, allowing the plant to increase production from a single mill. Gebr. Pfeiffer supplied the following components of the new grinding station:

• SLS 2250 BC classifier;
• Bucket elevator;
• Reject conveyor belt;
• Chutes and divert chutes;
• Reject silo;
• Weigh feeder;

• Ducting, expansion joints and dampers;
• HML 1250 Pfeiffer hot gas generator;
• MCC, control and instrumentation;
• Related engineering services.
Delivery of the grinding unit is expected to be complete by December 2015.
Saudi Arabia: The Chinese General Contractor Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Bldg Materials Industry Co Ltd in Chengdu has placed an order with Gebr. Pfeiffer SE for the supply of an MPS 3070 BC cement mill for Readymix in Saudi Arabia. The 1100kW drive power mill will grind 30t/hr of granulated blast-furnace slag and 46t/hr of Ordinary Portland Cement to a fineness of 4000cm²/g and 3600cm²/g, respectively. Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for 2015.
