Bangladesh: Metrocem Cement says that it has contracted with US-based software specialist NURTech to “develop a unique AOS and IOS-based integrated software for Metrocem Cement. This will ensure smooth operation and alleviate complications, which in turn will benefit employee as well as customers.” Managing director Khandakar Rifat said that he looked forward to the fruits of this expansion of Metrocem Cement’s existing relationship with the supplier.

Bangladesh: Metrocem Cement has appointed Khandakar Ataur Rahman Rifat appointed as its chief marketing officer. He holds 25 years experience in the cement industry working for Aman Cement, Holcim Cement, Unique Cement, Cemex Cement, Hyundai Cement amongst other companies. He earned a BSS and a MSS from the University of Dhaka, an MBA in marketing from the World University of Bangladesh and a PhD in marketing from the same institution.

Bangladesh: Lafarge Surma Cement Ltd has signed a toll grinding agreement with Metrocem Cement Ltd. Under the agreement Lafarge Surma Cement will provide clinker from its integrated cement plant in Chhatak town, Sylhet Division, to Metrocem Cement, which will use it to produce a Portland composite cement for Lafarge Surma Cement. Tarek Elba, CEO of Lafarge Surma Cement and Md Shahidullah, managing director of Metrocem Cement, signed the agreement.
