Vietnamese cement firms increase US exports
05 March 2024Vietnam/US: Several Vietnamese cement companies, including Long Son Cement, Nghi Son Cement, Vicem Ha Tien Cement, Thanh Thang Cement, and Xuan Thanh Cement, raised their exports to the US in early 2024. The reasons for the increase include an ongoing local shortage in the US, Việt Nam News has reported.
In 2023, Vicem Ha Tien Cement and Nghi Son Cement made their first shipments of cement to the US, averaging 40,000t per shipment. Vietnam's cement industry, with a production capacity of 120Mt/yr, is experiencing a surplus of 60Mt. To address this, producers have increased their exports, with the majority of sales going to China, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Taiwan and some Middle Eastern countries.
Xuan Thanh Cement orders liquid starters from AKA
04 March 2020Vietnam: Xuan Thanh Cement has ordered seven liquid starters from AKA. The plant in Ha Nam Province has a cement production capacity of 5.5Mt/yr from two production lines. The most recent production line was supplied by Denmark’s FLSmidth. France’s AKA supplies a variety of liquid starters, electronic starters and power controllers for industrial end users.
Vietnam: Xuan Thanh Cement has ordered a new production line for a plant in Ha Nam province from Denmark’s FLSmidth for around Euro74m. FLSmidth will design and engineer the new clinker production line and deliver equipment for the entire production from crushing to clinker silo. The order is due to be fully delivered by the end of 2020, and, once operational the production line will have a capacity of 12,500t/day. In 2015, Xuan Thanh Cement placed a similar order for a production line that has been operating since 2017.
Vietnam: Xuan Thanh has hired Denmark’s FLSmidth to provide five onsite advisors with the purpose of optimising the production of its cement plant while minimising the production costs. The customer's 12,500t/day cement plant is located in Ha Nam, Vietnam, and is the largest cement plant in South East Asia. FLSmidth has also supplied the equipment for the cement plant since 2017.
"By implementing best practices and data from other cement plants globally, we can assist Xuan Thanh in improving their output while minimising their production costs. In other words we will enhance their productivity. This contract is a continuation of the long-standing partnership between Xuan Thanh and FLSmidth and will optimise the production of high quality cement to the local market," said Per Mejnert Kristensen, Group Executive Vice President, Cement Division of FLSmidth.
Vietnam/Germany: Loesche GmbH has won an order for a new cement grinding plant in Ha Nam. The customer is Xuan Thanh Cement Joint Stock Company, a private company group (est. 1976) in Vietnam with more than 30,000 employees. In December 2015, Xuan Thanh Cement decided to invest in a new cement line from FLSmidth. Germany's Loesche GmbH, however, was chosen for the delivery of the cement mills.
After Loesche had already supplied a vertical roller mill for the first cement line in the same plant, Xuan Thanh JSC placed the order for the construction of the new grinding plants with two cement mills with Loesche once again.
During the signing ceremony, Mr Nguyen Xuan Thuy, General Director of Xuan Thanh Cement JSC, thanked Dr Thomas Loesche on behalf of the Xuanh Thanh Group. The contracting partners discussed future developments and confirmed their interest in continuing to work together on a long term basis.
The challenge of this project for Loesche lies in the integration of the new grinding plants into a cement line which is presently under construction.
The key elements of the scope of supply are two cement mills type LM 56.3+3 CS. In addition to the two cement mills, Loesche is also supplying further plant components, from the fresh material supply, the product filter and the mill fan to the finished material transport to the product silos. Loesche Automatisierungstechnik GmbH will be the supplier for the electric part and the automation of the grinding plants. Two hot gas generators type LF 20 L are designed to provide the product moisture guaranteed in case of kiln standstill. An extensive engineering package provided by Loesche will conclude the scope of supply.
Xuan Thanh cement plant will thus be fitted with state-of-the-art equipment for low energy consumption and for reduction of emission values to European standards. The lead time for the entire package is eleven months. Commissioning is forecasted for the second quarter of 2017.
Vietnam: Prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Construction to expand the production capacity of Xuan Thanh cement plant in the northern province of Ha Nam to 4.5Mt/yr from the current 2.3Mt/yr.
The prime minister asked the ministry to review the planning of the cement industry, to remove low capacity cement projects from planning and to report to the government in June 2014. The government leader earlier added Xuan Thanh cement plant to the list of projects slated for operation before 2015.
